Re: Am I eligible to apply for TET Exam after completion of MCA course?
TET stands for Teachers Eligibility Test, an exam which is held by both central government and state government separately to hire teachers for various state and central level schools.
The idea behind TET exam is to make sure that right candidates are selected for teachers job in government colleges. This exam was made mandatory after several recommendations that criticised the education quality in government schools. While CTET is the exam which is conducted by the CBSE on the behalf of Ministry of Human Resource Development, TET is a state level exam. Each state conducts its own TET exam. Therefore if you have passed TET exam of Delhi, then you can only apply in government schools managed by the Delhi government. Same is the case of other states TET exam. Same logic also applies on CTET exam. Those who have passed CTET exam are eligible to apply in central government schools, Kandriya Vidhalaya, Tibetan Schools etc. While CTET is difficult comparing to state TET, the main benefit of this exam is that with its help you can also get job in private schools affiliated with CBSE. This is something which is not possible for TET exam. Now coming to your point. With MCA degree you are not eligible to appear for TET exam. In order to be eligible you need to have B.Ed degree with at least 55 percent marks. Now before you start preparing for B.Ed, I would like to recommend that instead of TET, you should apply for NET exam since you have completed post graduation course. National Eligibility Test or NET is the exam conducted by UGC for lecturer job in central government colleges. Similar exam for state level is called SET exam. Since you have post graduate degree aka MCA you should apply for NET instead of TET. Eligibility: You must be citizen of India Must have completed post graduation degree in any stream. You need to obtain at least 55 percent marks in master degree course. SC/ST candidates need 50 percent marks. Those who are in final year of master degree course can also apply. However such candidates need to submit their PG degree within 2 years of appearing in the NET exam to prevent disqualification. Your subject of NET exam should be same as master degree subject. There is no upper age limit for lecturer job. |
