Am I eligible for CBSE UGC NET exam having passed M.Sc in Microbiology?


I have completed M.Sc in Microbiology. Am I eligible for CBSE UGC National Eligibility Test (NET)? If yes, by when should I apply and what is the exam pattern?

Yes, you are eligible to apply for UGC (University Grant Commission) NET (National Eligibility Test) after completing M.SC microbiology because minimum qualification required to apply for UGC NET exam is master degree or equivalent qualification from government recognized institute. Here below are details regarding eligibility conditions to apply for UGC NET exam:-

Eligibility Conditions to apply for CBSE UGC NET (National Eligibility Test) exam:-
  • Minimum qualification required to apply for CBSE UGC NET exam is master degree or equivalent qualification from government recognized institute with minimum 55% marks obtained, Relaxation of 5% marks for reserve category candidates as per government rules.
  • Age limit to apply for JRF (Junior Research Fellowship) is 28 years. There is no age limit to apply for senior lectureship.
  • CBSE UGC NET exam is conducted twice in a year in the month of June and December.
