Hi, I have got a drop year between 5th and 6th semester of BE in CS due to personal reasons. I gave my semester 5 in Dec 2014 and gave my 6th semester exams in May 2016. I dont have any live or dead ATKTs. I admitted for BE in 2012 and will hopefully complete in 2017. Am I ELIGIBLE for CS GATE 2017?. My average CGPA till 5th sem is around 8.00

GATE stands for Graduate Aptitude Test for Engineering.
For GATE CS, candidates currently in final year or already completed B.E/B.Tech from any recognized university or institute are eligible to apply.
No age limt to appear in GATE.
Candidates with backlog in any of the papers in qualifying degree are also eligible for GATE. They need to upload a copy of any of the mark sheet of the final year issued from the institute where studying.
Candidate can appear in only one out of 23 papers.

You are eligible for GATE 2017. At the time of time registration, you will also need Provisional certificate letter from the institute where you are currently enrolled.
Last date to register for GATE 2017 is 04th October 2016.
GATE 2017 examination will be held on 04th, 05th, 11th and 12th February 2017.
Result will be announced on 27th March 2017.

If you have completed Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology or Architecture/Design or its equivalent or masters degree in science department then you are eligible for GATE exam 2017.

Final year candidates are also eligible fr GATE entrance exam.

-The candidate should have passed B.A/B.Tech/B.Pharm/B.Arch./B.Sc (Research)/B.S. from a recognized university.

-The candidates who have passed M.Sc/M.A/MCA or equivalent are also eligible for the exam.

-Candidates who are currently in the final year or already completed the course can also apply for the exam.

-The minimum age limit to apply for the exam should be 18 years. However, there is no restriction on upper age limit to apply for the exam.

-There is no restriction on number of attempts for GATE exam.

The score obtained in GATE exam remains valid for a period of three years only from the date of announcement of results.

Academic qualification for this exam is that candidate must have done Bachelor of Technology or Engineering from a recognized university. Final year candidates of bachelor's degree in engineering can also apply.

You can apply for GATE 2017 as you will be in final year of engineering. You can attach a certificate signed by your Head of Department for one year gap in between studies.

IIT Roorkee is conducting the GATE Exam this year.As You took 1 year gap in between your education,it doesn't matter in GATE Exam.You can apply for this Exam.You have to register for it.
