Hello Sir/Mam, My name is Anurag sharma and my height is 170 cm can I join Indian army? What is the minimum criteria required for physical fitness? Can you please give me the right details on this? Awaiting to get the response. Thank you!

Yes, you are eligible to join Indian Army if you are 170cms in height. The minimum weight required to join in Indian Army is 56 kgs. To join Indian Army, you have to appear in NDA or CDS examination based on your qualifying examination. By qualifying all the rounds of the recruitment process, you will be selected into Indian Army.

One can join Indian Army through NDA exam. Yes, you are eligible to join army with a height of 170 cm.

UPSC conducts NDA exam twice a year.

Eligibility criteria for NDA exam :-

Nationality : Indian.

Age limit :16.5 years to 19.5 years.

Marital Status : Only unmarried male candidate.

Academic qualification : 10+2 for Indian Military Academy and 10+2 with Physics,Chemistry and Mathematics for Indian Naval Academy and Indian Air Force Academy.

Selection process :

Written examination

Personal interview by SSB.

Physical requirements :

Height : Must not be less than 157.5 cms.

Weight : should be in proportionate with height.

Chest: Must not be less than 81 cms with a minimum expansion of 5 cms.

Eye Sight : 6/6 in both eyes .

Here I'm telling you Physical Standards required for indian army:-

>> The candidates should have minimum height of the 157.5 cm

>> The candidates should have correlated weight

>> The candidates should have minimum chest expansion of 5 cm

Eye Vision Standards:-

-Uncorrected without glass 6/6
Corrected with glass 6/6

-Limits of Myopia -0.75

-Limits of Hypermetropia +1.5

-Limits of Color Perception 1.

Yes bro you can join Indian army. Minimum height required for Indian army is 169cm and 77 cm of chest in normal condition and 82 cm chest after fully expansion.
And the physical test includes following tests:
1. 1600 metres running in approximately 5 minutes and 30 seconds that mostly depends on the competition in your batch. You should be among first 20-25 candidates to get assured selection or qualifying this event.
2. 10 chin ups are required, minimum 6 are necessary for qualifying.
3. 9 feet jump is necessary
4. And in final a zigzag balance test is to be passed.

Minimum height required to join Indian army for a male candidate as an officer is 152 cms and minimum height required to join Indian army for a female candidate as an officer is 150 cms. There is no maximum height as such, but the maximum height given in the official notification of Indian army is 195 cms
