Re: Am I eligible for NET exam after completing UG through distance education
It doesn't matter if you have done Degree from a Distance or Regular if the University is recognized by the UGC.
UCG NET is for all the Post Graduates who have done their Degree in Regular or Correspondence. So don't worry and be prepared for the examination. You must have scored 55% marks in Post Graduation then only you will be eligible for UGC NET. So make sure that you have got this percentage of marks. There is 5 % relaxation in marks for all those who belong to SC/ST/PWD category. Age is no barrier if you are aiming for Lecturership but if you want to become a Junior Research Fellowships then your age should be below 28 years. For JRF age relaxation will be available for SC/ST/PWD category candidates. Exam Pattern: So be prepared according to the subject you have selected for UGC NET. Limited number of candidates are declared qualified so prepare for it in a systematic way. For more information visit http://www.ugcnetonline.in |

Re: Am I eligible for NET exam after completing UG through distance education
You are not going to face any problem. Even if you had completed post graduation degree through distance education, still you would have been eligible for the National Eligibility Test.
University Grants Commission does not differenciate between distance education degree and regular mode degree. Which means that candidates with post graduation degree from either mode are eligible for National Eligibility Test. You just have to ensure that the degree is completed from UGC recognized college. This rule is same for regular mode degree and distance education mode degree. Even if you have regular mode degree which is not from recognized college, then you won't be allowed to appear for the National Eligibility Test. Therefore there is nothing to worry about. You should go ahead and apply for the National Eligibility Test. It will next take place in December 2013 for which notification is expected some time around October/November. NET Eligibility 1. The candidate must be citizen of India. 2. He/She should have post graduation degree. 3. Even final year students are eligible. 4. But marks in post graduation should be 55 percent. 5. SC/ST should have 50 percent marks in post graduation. 6. Final year students should submit the degree/mark sheet in 2 years. 7. The subject for exam will depend on your pg course. 8. The age limit is 28 years for JRF. 9. However OBC can apply for JRF up to 31 years. 10. The relaxation is 5 years for SC/ST. 11. There is no upper age limit for lectureship. |
