There is no provision to select any language paper as you optional subject in the civil service exam.
Kannada can be opted by as one of the compulsory papers, along with General Studies, Essay and English.
As far as the optional subjects are concerned, you will have to choose any two from the following list:
Agriculture,Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Anthropology,Botany,
Chemistry,Civil Engineering, Commerce and Accountancy, Economics,Electrical Engineering,Geography,Geology,History,Law,Manageme nt,Mathematics,Mechanical Engineering,Medical Science,Philosophy,Physics,Political Science and International Relations,Psychology,Public Administration,Sociology,Statistics,Zoology
