It looks that everyone is confused regarding "Merchant Navy".

Merchant Navy is not a part of Indian or any Country Defence Service. It has nothing to with government. I mean its like a Private, Public and Government undertaking Company.

Merchant NAvy has nothing to do with UPSC. Recruitment are not made through UPSC. UPSC's only duty is to conduct central government recruitment.

Niether it duty includes to look of the Indian costs, sea weaponary, safe gaurd India through its cost etc. All these works are performed by Indian Navy Service(INS), Indian Coast Guard and Indian Coastal Police.

Yes there is Merchant NAvy (Civillian Organisation). But it is also an organisation to train candidates for MErchant NAvy jobs.


What is Merchant Navy?

Merchant Navy is for providing commercial service to coutries. The principal functions of merchant ships include delivery of goods and commodities from one country to another country. The fleet of merchant ships includes cargo ships, carriers, passenger vessels, tankers and other special vehicles.

Yes there is oppurtunity for you in "Electrical Branch" of Merchant Navy.

Qualification for which is B.Tech (ECE) with at least 60% aggregate. You have to complte 10/12 months pre sea training which is offered by recruiting company itself or few Institutes.

Job of Radio Officer is also compatible for you. To be qualified as Radio Officer an individual need to do a two week GMDSS course.

The Radio Officers looks after all the electronic communication and the related records. In addition, he also looks after electronic navigation aids such as radar, depth measuring devices, long range navigation equipment and global positioning system etc.


However, this category of personnel has been almost phased out and their duties passed over to other Deck officers. So it is not adviceable.

Hi,
you can definitely join merchant navy after your graduation. Although the eligibility is 12th pass, then exam is conducted by SCI for admission. you can join merchant navy as deck or machine room specialist.

yes ,, sure you can do it ,, but the minimum eligibility for courses in Nautical science and Marine engineering is 10+2 or an equivalent examination with physics, chemistry and mathematics.

He should also pass a medical fitness test for sea service under standard norms and with eyesight 6/6 with no colour blindness.

Candidates wishing to enter the navigational and engineering fields of Merchant Navy need to complete a Bachelors degree in Nautical Science or Marine engineering, before they can gain admission to the field.

Yes....you can join merchant navy after completing your graduation.
The exam is conducted by SCI for admission.
You can join merchant navy as a deck officer intially but later you can get a good position.

how age limit are requaried for merchant navy & how percantage are requaried in merchant navy. please tell me soon.

Of course you are eligible .As you are not a Marin student you have go for a per see training of one year first .Then the important thing is the selection of college from where you are going to get the course . You have to go through a entrance exam and a interview to join the college.After clearing you will be able to join that college.After all this you have to clear a physical test .

The minimum requirements for the course -

1. You should have 60% in graduation.
2.There is no need of 12th marks.
