Iam doing B.sc agriculture,can i sit for gate exam ?
let me knew regarding this.

no you will not be eligible for GATE examination. any B.Sc graduation students are not eligible for GATE examination. if you do post B.Sc then you will be eligible.

eligibility criterion for GATE examination-
1. Bachelor degree holder in technology, architecture, engineering(10+2+4) are eligible for GATE examination. final year students of this program are also eligible.

2. Post B.Sc and Post Diploma students and final year students of this program are also eligible for GATE examination.

3. master degree holder in Science/Mathematics/ Statistics/Computer Applications branch are also eligible for GATE examination.

4. Candidates in the second or higher year of the Four-year Integrated Master’s degree program (Post-B.Sc.) in Engineering/Technology are eligible for GATE examination.


but as per your qualification you are not able to fulfill any one eligibility criterion. so you will not be eligible. here i am attaching the information brochure for the GATE 2012 examination. go through the attachment file to get all details about GATE examination and details eligibility criterion.

THE ELIGIBILITY FOR GATE EXAM:-

Sorry to say that B.SC degree are not eligible for GATE exam .After M.SC degree you are eligible for GATE exam.

(a) Bachelor’s degree holders in Engineering/Technology or its equivalent.

(b) Bachelor’s degree holders in Science/Mathematics/Statistics/Computer Science/Electronics/ followed by qualifications obtained through an examination conducted by professional societies recognized by UPSC/AICTE.

(c) Bachelor’s degree holders in Architecture/Design (for M Des program only)

(d) Master’s degree holders in Physics with Electronics/Instrumentation (for M Tech programs).

There are no restriction for attempts in GATE exam.You can apply here maximum time.

There are no age criteria but your minimum age must be above 18 years.

GATE score is valid for TWO years.

you are not eligible to write for the exam. Changes has been brought out in the eligibility criteria for appearing in the GATE exam,
the academic background for appearing in the exam includes, 1.bachelor degree in the field of engineering, 2.masters degree in any discipline in science, maths, computer, statistics,3. And the aspirant doing integrated master degree course.
There is no restriction in the number of attempts. And there is no age limit for appearing in the exam

yes u can sit for gate if u have done B.Sc in agricultural science.so don't worry.

The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an all-India examination administered and conducted in eight zones such that One Indian Institute of Science(IISc),Bangalore and the Seven IITs(Bombay,Kharagpur,Kanpur,Guahati,Roorkee,Madra s,Delhi)

The most important news in GATE-2012 is that Pre-final year student ca not appear in GATE 2012 exam.

According to the Eligibility of the GATE:

1:You should have a Bachelor's degree holder in Engineering or Technology or Architecture or Pharmacy of 4 years after 10+2.

2:You can also apply if you are in the final year examination of the Bachelor Degree.
or
3:You have to be a Master degree holders in any branch of Science like Physics,Chemistry, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Applications etc....

4:You can also apply if you are in the final year examination of the Master Degree.

In this year 2012,the GATE 2012 is organized by Indian Institute of Technology,Delhi

In GATE-2012 you can apply in two way Online & Offline

Date of Online Examination:29-01-2012 (Sunday)

Date of Offline Examination: 12-02-2012 (Sunday)

Some Important Tips:

1:According to me,maintain a time table to allow yourself to devote minimum 6-8hrs per day for the GATE.

2:Then try to collect the base or main material of any subject.

3:.Study the Syllabus

4:Try to solve the Previous questions papers

5:Try to Solve more and more problems,

6:Try to discover more and more new own tricks by which you can easily solve any problem in a less time .

7:You can go for self tests.

i have done bsc agriculture 10 2 4 Am i eligible for GAE???? i guess its equivalent, its a technical degree....

No friend,
you are not eligible.....
you are eligible only after doing ur Msc post graduation...
but you can write exam when you are pursuing your final yr of post graduation also..so u will be having gap of 1yr after finishing Bsc for appearing in GATE..you can compensate it with some GATE coaching class..
