Teacher Eligibility Test known as TET is an Indian elgibility test for teachers. The test is conducted by both Central government and State governments in India. The test is conducted in order fulfill the achieve Right to education goals.

All graduates including B.A, B.Sc, B.Com etc. are eligible to take the test. All B. Ed. graduates need to pass this exam to work as a teacher. A candidate has to score over 60 per cent to clear the eligibility test.

Each and every state is conducting this exam to appoint teachers.

This exam is conducted by both central
government and state Governments once in
a year. If state government is not
conducting TET, then candidates can attend
exam conducted by central government.
The candidates’ needs to clear this exam
with minimum 60% to became as a teacher.
This certificate is not valid for more than 7
years. The candidates who had passed this
exam will be given employment as teacher
throughout India.
Candidates can take this exam as many
times he/she can.
The exam consists of 2 papers namely
paper 1 & paper 2.
The paper1 is for teachers handling classes
from 1 st to 5th standard classes.
The paper2 is for teachers handling classes
from 6 st to 8th standard classes.
The medium of Instruction is English or
languages selected by the candidates.

TET stands for Teacher Eligibility Test.
TET exam is conducted at state level by various state boards.
In order to appear in TET exam you should have to complete your graduation from a recognized university and you must have B.Ed degree.
There is no upper age limit for this exam. Also there is no limit for no. of attempts.
You have to score minimum 60 percent in the TET test to qualify for teaching jobs.
Exam pattern-
There are two papers with objective type questions. Each paper consist of 150 questions.These papers are for-
1. Paper I: those who want to become teachers for classes I-V.
2. Paper II: those who want to teach classes between VI and VIII.
3. Paper I and II: For those who are interested in teaching from Class I to VIII will have to appear and qualify in both the papers.
Syllabus for TET exam:
There are five subjects in Paper I. Each subject have 30 objective multiple choice type questions. Time duration is one and Half hour.

2. Language I
3. Language II
4. Mathematics
5. Environmental studies

A candidate must score more then 55%and also studied one of the teaching subject during graduation to be eligible to give teacher eligibility test.There is no age limit to apply for the TET.
