No to be a software engineer computer science engineer computer science is not required as a compulsory subject at higher secondary school level but in my view it is good to have the same if you are looking to be software engineer as the prior basic knowledge of computer science will be an advantage when you pursue your B.tech degree course for being software engineer as it would include the use of basic computer knowledge, language.

In general the minimum educational qualification required for pursuing Bachelor of Technology/ Engineering degree course in any trade is a higher secondary school degree with Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry as main subjects from a recognized board.

Further for admission in top colleges like IIT, NIT and other government and private engineering colleges to get quality education and better job prospects after the completion of your bachelor degree course you must appear and qualify examinations like JEE, State EEE/CET, BITSAT, COMED-K, VITEEE, SRMEEE, etc. .

No, the computer science subject in 11th standard is not necessary for pursuing Software Engineering course. Candidates who have passed 12th standard or an equivalent examination with PCM stream from a Government recognised board are eligible to pursue software engineering course. You need to appear and qualify the engineering entrance examinations like EAMCET, JEE, etc., to get admission for pursuing Software Engineering course.

No. It is not mandatory to have Computer Science at 10+2, but it would be better if you have Computer Science.

But make sure you have Mathematics and Physics subjects in your 10+2.

Though Computer Science is not mandatory in 10+2, it is mandatory in Graduation.

If you have not studied Computer Science subject in Graduation, it is very difficult to get job in software industry.

Below is route map to become a Software Engineer

Opt for 10+2 with MPC stream which consists of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry subjects.

Start preparation for the Entrance Exams for Engineering course from the very beginning of your 10+2.

For this, it would be better if you join 10+2 in popular Institutes like
-Sri Chaitanya
-Narayana
-Nalanda etc.

These Institutes will give Coaching for the Entrance Exams for Engineering course parallel to your academics.

They conduct daily exams and weekly exams and monitor your progress on a regular basis.

They will make you perfect in all the aspects of Entrance Exam that would help you to get a top rank.

Opt for Engineering course with any of the following streams
B.Tech in Computer Science Engineering
B.Tech in Information Technology

Once you can get admission in top college, automatically they will place you in top companies through campus placements.
