Indian Military Academy a wing of Combined Defence Service(CDS). To join Indian Military Academy(IMA), one has to crck CDS entrance Exam conducted by UPSC two times every year as CDS-I and CDS-II.

Eligibility Criteriato join IMA of CDS:-

-The candidate must be an unmarried Indian Male only.
-Should have either appeared for the final Graduation Degree exam or pass with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as subject of studies from a recognised University.
-Should be within the age of 19 to 24 years.
-Should have possessed good Physical and Mental Fitness.

The CDS can be applied through online by paying requisite fees for the exam.

The selection is through written exam followed by Personal interview along with Physical Fitness and Medical Test.

- Brigadier L P Collins, DSO, OBE was the first Commandant.

- The academy is located in the foothills of the Himalayas, about 8 km west of Dehradun in the northern Indian state of Uttarakhand.

COURSE DURATION DETAILS :

1. The duration of training is one year except for the Direct Entry Scheme, for which it is one and a half years. Direct Entry is to be made through a written examination conducted by the UPSC and the final selection is by the Services Selection Board. The age limits for them is from 19 to 24 yrs at the time of entry.

2. Candidates selected for 10+2 Technical entry scheme are inducted for one years' Basic Military Training at IMA. This is followed by a four years' degree course in Engineering from College of Military Engineering, Pune / Military College of Telecommunication Engineering, Mhow / Military College of Electronics and Mechanical Engineering, Secunderabad. The total duration of training is five years.

Admissions to Indian Military Academy(IMA) and Officer's Training Academy(OTA) are done through the Combined Defence Services Exam

The CDS Exam is held every year in February and September by the UPSC and the candidates willing to appear for this exam should have these minimum eligibility criterion :-
