Does Prep of ISRO require some knowledge of Astronomy? some one told me that it is essential

No, My friend knowledge of astronomy is not required....
you just need to take preparation on the subjects like-

Antenna System

Analog Communication

Digital Electronics

Control System

Circuit Theory

These are the important subjects to take preparation for ISRO exam..

so, work hard, crack the exam..

Education qualification for ISRO is

we need to have a qualificatio of BE/B.Tech or equivalent in First Class with an aggregate minimum of 65% (average of all semesters for which results are available).

SCIENTIST/ENGINEER

Candidates who are in final year can also apply for the same.

With age limit of 35 years.

There is no form for applying ISRO you need to go to isro website and fill your form but before that you need to make a D.D of 100/- and then you need to apply to website..then you need to note down your application form no and take print of the generated form and sent to the ISRO address.
So astronomy is not necessary......

for going in isro you must have b.tech degree with minimum of 60% marks
doing b.tech will ultimately increase you knowledge

No, this is not necessary.
ISRO promotes and develops space based service areas such as telecommunications, TV broad casting, metro logical applications, natural resources survey, disaster warning and environmental monitoring. This all work involves combined effort of engineers and scientists in different discipline. For everyone working here need not to be specialist in astronomy or astrophysics. Like a mechanical engineer is responsible for designing of different instruments, driving systems. He doesn't require much knowledge of astronomy.
And I didn't really get what do you mean by some knowledge. Some means how much? In India astronomy in masters degree and PhD level is taught. If you want to enter ISRO as an astronomer, you must hold a PhD degree.
All I can say for the preparation of ISRO concern, making a strong background in fundamentals are essential. Whatever branch you belong to, concentrate on that 200%.
