Most of the States have the same criteria for various posts. First of all you must have a Graduation in any discipline from a recognized University. This is the basic for PCS examination of most states.
The age limit is usually 21 to 35 years if we look at Uttar Pradesh PCS and West Bengal PCS exams. There is age relaxation available for candidates who belong to reserved category. The selection is purely on merit and you have to perform very well in the written exam and personal interview. Usually the exam has 3 stages preliminary exam, mains exam and interview.
