Re: Eligibility criteria for appearing in JAM examination?
JAM i.e. Joint Admission Test for M.Sc. is conducted by IITs for admission
in M.Sc. and joint M.Sc.-Ph.D. dual degree courses. The eligibility criteria for admission in PG programs in Mathematics you should have a Bachelor’s degree with Mathematics as a subject for at least two years/four semesters. In most of the engineering colleges Mathematics is taught for first four semesters. If your B.Tech. degree has Mathematics subject in at least four semesters you can apply for the exam. As far as career opportunities is concerned, I would suggest you not to change your stream. As you have graduation degree in ECE, you should go for some M.Tech. program in a relevant field rather than an M.Sc. program in Maths. You should appear GATE to get admission in M.Tech. in IITs. |

Re: Eligibility criteria for appearing in JAM examination?
The eligibility for JAM is that you need to have studied Mathematics as a subject during your degree in college...JAM exam is to select candidate for entry into IIT for MSc and PhD...so you need to have a valid degree certificate also...as far as i am concern i too will advice you to pursue Mtech rather than shift to Msc in Maths...

Re: Eligibility criteria for appearing in JAM examination?
To appear for this test you need to have studied Mathematics as a subject for at least 4 semesters in engineering. If you have done so then you are eligible for this course. On completion of PH.d you will have the option to go into the teaching field or research field. However it would be better for you to try for the M.Tech as you are a B.Tech. After M.Tech too you can go in for a Ph.d.
