Dear Friend

You can apply for Engineering Services Examination if you are a final year student of B.Tech.

You are eligible with the condition that you should have your B.Tech. degree at the time
of Interview.

The written examination of upcoming ESE shall be conducted in Many 2012 so, at the
time of interview (if you qualify the written test) you are supposed to have your
B.Tech. degree.

Generally, all the colleges produce final result by June/July so final year engineering
students apply for the examwithout any problem.

If you fail to produce your final result of B.Tech. at the time of interview then only
your candidature will be lost.

You should not worry much in this regard. For now you are eligible to apply for the exam.

The notification of ESE should be available by 8th January 2012 (as per UPSC).

Apply for the exam on time.

Eligibility For UPSC ESE

The ESE (Engineering Service Exams) or popularly known as IES (Indian Engineering Service) Exams are conducted by UPSC every year..

In order to appear for the Indian Engineering Service Exams..you need to fulfill the following minimum criterion :-

1) You should be in the age limit of 21-30 years for general category,21-33 years for OBC and 21-35 years for SC/ST

2) You should be a B.Tech degree holder or in the final year of your B.Tech in any of the following streams

Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering
Electrical Engineering
Mechanical Engineering
Civil Engineering

Maximum number of attempts for the general category students is 4,7 for OBC and for SC/ST there is no limit

Final year B.Tech students are definitely eligible for appearing in the exam..

You can see this like this..while appearing for engineering entrance exams..the instructions read that the candidate must have a minimum aggregate percentage in 12th boards whereas the mark sheet for 12th boards was granted to the student much later after the completion of all the engineering exams..
Your eligibility in terms of percentage was only checked at the time of counselling while taking admission in that particular college..which was always after you have been already awarded the mark sheet..

Same is the case here..

You can appear for the IES exams which take place in the mid of May and by the time you appear for the interview and the final selection..you would have already got your college degree..

So, this is the logic behind their writing only graduates..

I hope this solves all your queries..

The forms generally release in the 1st week of January..

all the best..

With Warm Regards
"Nitz"
