Eligibility for UPSC engineering exam? Books to be referred?
Sir I m final year student of electronics & telecomm. Engineering. Please tell me the eligibily criteria for the UPSC engg exam & which books should I refer?

Final year students waiting for result can also apply There are no standard books as such Pick up any book from market relevant to your course and prepare whole heeartedly Good Luck |

UPSC engineering exam you mean to IES exam then for IES exam
IES Eligibility Criteria Educational Qualifications : Degree in : • Electrical Engineering • Electronics & Communications Engineering • Civil Engineering • Mechanical Engineering or equivalent degree from recognized universities. • M.Sc. degree or equivalent with Wireless Communication, Electronics, Radio Physics or Radio Engineering as a special subject is also acceptable for certain posts. • Students of final year Engineering or equivalent degree are also eligible. so there is no percentage is required only pass out of final student are enough.. Age Limits : Not less than 21 years and not more than 30 years Some of the IES exam books |

Some of the exams are :--- RRB(Railway recruitment board) CSAT(includes most of the jobs like IAS,IPS , IFS AND many more.,,) CDS The following are the eligibility criteria for the application of Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Examination 1. Nationality 2. Age Limits 3. Minimum Educational Qualifications 4. Number of attempts 5. Restrictions on applying for the examination 6. Physical Standards 1. Nationality 1. For the Indian Administrative Service and the Indian Police Service, a candidate must be a citizen of India. 2. For other services, a candidate must be either: 1. A citizen of India, or 2. a subject of Nepal, or 3. a subject of Bhutan, or 2. Age Limits 1. A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years on 1st August, 2010, i.e. he must have been born not earlier than 2nd August, 1980 and not later than 1st August, 1989. 2. Number of attempts Every candidate appearing at the Civil Services Examination, who is otherwise eligible, shall be permitted four attempts at the examination. Provided that this restriction on the number of attempts will not apply in the case of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates who are otherwise eligible. Provided further that the number of attempts permissible to candidates belonging to Other Backward Classes, who are otherwise eligible, shall be seven. this exam is conducted by UPSC every years.
for appear in this exam you must have to complete your graduation in b.tech in the any of the below streams.-- 1.elctronics 2.civl 3.mechanical 4.electrical & communication engineering. the age limit for this exam is 21-30 years for a general candidates. there are 5 & 3 year relaxation for SC\ST candidates. |

First of all you have to go through the standard text books of your stream properly to aquire the concepts clearly because all the questions are totally conceptual.
For general knowledge section i rather suggest to pass your eyes through the books of class 10-th level which you once read.it will surely save time and be extremely useful. And for current affairs,just read any national level standard newspaper regularly.it will be better if it becomes in your mother tongue. For vocabulary section,consult barren's book on gre-english. |

union public service commission conducts the exam for IES
for which the eligibility criteria is; - you should be engineering graduate from any recognized university in the following stream -Electrical Engineering -Electronics & Communications Engineering -Civil Engineering -Mechanical Engineering -or equivalent degree from recognized universities. -M.Sc. degree or equivalent with Wireless Communication, Electronics, Radio Physics or Radio Engineering as a special subject is also acceptable for certain posts -a candidate as an appearing can also apply for the exam age limit -a candidate's age should be between 21-30 for general -for OBC upper age limit is 33 years -for SC/ST candidate upper age limit is 35 years number of attempts -for general-4 attempts -for OBC- 7 attempts -for SC/ST- no limits for further details you can visit the link www.upsc.gov.in |

Yes my friend you are eligible for UPSC and I have mentioned the eligible criteria for this examination : Normally applications are invited by UPSC notifications in leading News Papers during December every year. The Civil Services Examination consists of three stages : 1. Civil Services Preliminary Examination ( Objective Type) (Usually conducted in May) 2. Civil Services Main Examination (Written) (Conducted during October/November) 3. Interview and final Selection (During April/May) Now I have mentioned the eligible criteria for this examination : 1. Minimum Educational Qualification : Degree of any recognized university. However candidates studying in final year examination may apply for Preliminary. When he applies for Main Examination, he shall be a Graduate. So you are very much eligible for I.E.S. in U.P.S.C. For this you have to prepare right now.Here I have also mentioned about the age limit and number of attempts of the examination. 2. Age Limit : * Minimum Age :- 21 as on 1st August during which they will write Exam. * Maximum Age: 30 for GEN, 33 for OBC and 35 for SC. 3. ECOs/SSCOs who have completed an initial period of assignment of five years of Military Service as on 1st July, 2007 and whose assignment has been extended beyond five years and in whose case the Ministry of Defence issues a certificate that they can apply for civil employment and that they will be released on three month's notice on selection from the date of receipt of offer of appointment : upto a maximum of five years. Blind, deaf-mute and Orthopaedically handicapped persons: upto a maximum of ten years. NOTE I Cumulative Age relaxation: Scheduled Castes, the Scheduled Tribes and the Other Backward Classes who are also covered under other clauses mentioned above will be eligible for grant of cumulative age-relaxation under both the categories. Ex-servicemen eligibility: The term ex-servicemen will apply to the persons who are defined as ex-servicemen in the Ex-servicemen (Re-employment in Civil Services and Posts) Rules, 1979, as amended from time to time. The age concession will not be admissible to Ex-Servicemen and Commissioned Officers including ECOs/SSCOs, who are released on own request. NOTE II Date of Birth Certificate: The date of birth accepted by the Commission is that entered in the Matriculation or Secondary School Leaving Certificate or in a certificate recognized by an Indian University as equivalent to Matriculation or in an extract from a Register of Matriculates maintained by a University, which extract must be certified by the proper authority of the University or in the Higher Secondary or an equivalent examination certificate. No other document relating to age like horoscopes, affidavits, birth extracts from Municipal Corporation, service records and the like will be accepted. Once the date of birth is recorded in the Commission, no change is allowed subsequently (or at any other Examination of the Commission) on any grounds whatsoever. Educational Qualifications The candidate must hold a degree of any of Universities incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University Under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification. NOTE: Candidates who have appeared at an examination which would educationally qualify them for the UPSC examination but have not received the the results will also be eligible for admission to the Preliminary Examination. They will have to produce the proof of passing the requisite examination with their application for the Main Examination. In exceptional cases, UPSC may treat a candidate who has not any of the foregoing qualifications as a qualified candidate, provided that he has passed examination conducted by other Institutions, which UPSC deems fit. Candidates possessing professional and technical qualifications, recognised by Government as equivalent to professional and technical degree would also be eligible for admission to the examination. Candidates who have passed the final professional M.B.B.S. or any other Medical Examination but have not completed their internship by the time of submission of their applications for the Civil Services (Main) Examination, will be provisionally admitted to the Examination. They will however, have to submit a copy of a certificate from the concerned authority of the University/Institution that they have passed the requisite final professional medical examination with their application . In such cases, the candidates will be required to produce original Degree or a certificate from the University/Institution at the time of their interview . Number of attempts The maximum number of attempts restriction is effective from the examination held in 1984. In case other eligibility conditions apply: General candidates: four attempts. Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates: No restriction. Other Backward Classes: seven attempts. NOTE 1: An attempt at a Preliminary Examination is considered an attempt at the examination. If a candidate actually appears in any one paper in the Preliminary Examination, he is considered to have made an attempt at the examination. Notwithstanding the disqualification/cancellation of candidature the fact of appearance of the candidate at the examination will count as an attempt. NOTE 2: Restrictions on reapplying for the examination A candidate who is appointed to the Indian Administrative Service or the Indian Foreign Service on the results of an earlier examination and continues to be a member of that service will not be eligible to compete at this examination. If a candidate is appointed to the IAS/IFS after the Preliminary Examination of Civil Services Examination, 2007 is over and he/she continues to be a member of that service, he/she shall not be eligible to appear in the Civil Services (Main) Examination, 2007 notwithstanding his/her having qualified in the Preliminary Examination, 2007. If a candidate is appointed to IAS/IFS after the commencement of the Civil Services (Main) Examination, 2007 but before the result thereof and continues to be a member of that service, he/she shall not be considered for appointment to any service/post on the basis of the result of this examination viz. Civil Services Examination, 2007. |

1. You must be a citizen of India or a subject of Nepal/Bhutan/Tibetan refugee. 2. Your age must be within 21-30 years. Age relaxation for- OBC-3years SC/ST-5years 3. You must have a Bachelor Degree from a recognized university with at least one of the following subjects-Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science/Botany/Chemistry/Geology/Mathematics/Physics/Statistics/Zoology etc. All the best!!!!!!! |
