Re: Which engineering branch should I choose?
Well friend this is truth that civil is evergreen branch.
I would like to say that if you opt civil, electrical, ece, mechanical then you secure your future with a lot of job opportunities in government as well as in private sector. So, opt any one of them. |

Re: Which engineering branch should I choose?
To select a branch it is important to know-
1. The marks of your 12th class subjects. 2. Your interest lies in which subject. 3. Your hobbies like painting, drawing, gardening etc. So a no: of factors are necessary to make the selection of a particular branch. Now come to your point- As per your Father saying Civil & electrical both are the very good branches now a days & a good scope too.As your Father is an experienced person so You can easily follow their guidelines without making any confusion in your mind. But if you feel some pressure regarding HIS decision then discuss it freely as its not the game of only one day.Its your whole life decision & a good decision at right time can only give the fruitful result. |

Re: Which engineering branch should I choose?
You should be choose your branch according to your interest not by your
parent interest. In which field your interest is more then you can choose that branch. Suppose that if your interest in electronics then you can choose electronics and communication branch or electronics and electrical branch. Don't choose your career in the pressure of parents. choose only from own interest. It is best for you. Regards ~Mukul~ |

I think you have bit knowledge about the branches available in engineering there are nearly 35-40 branches in engineering In that huge list the top most branches are ECE-Electronics & Communication Engineering EEE-Electrical & Electronics Engineering CSE-Computer Science Engineering Mech- Mechanical engineering in this way nearly have some 30-40 branches which has its own significance Now the selection of branch should be from your own interest not from its reputation and all Selection of Branch should have these factors ->Analysis on the branch ->What work will be done with that particular branch ->What are the real time work done with that branch ->Reputation of branch which you are going to select ->Scope of branch By assessing all these factors you have to select the branch and never select any branch by just the reason somebody told you that its a good one the one which is good for others may not be good for you so select your own make your decision clear along with your interest Regards ~AdityA~ |

Re: Which engineering branch should I choose?
You have the 4 core branches in engineering for IES and that are
EC-Electronics Engineering CE-Civil Engineering EE-Electrical Engineering ME-Mechanical engineering which are being considered for the IES(Indian Engineering Services) examination which is parallel to IAS examination conducted by UPSC. else you have other branches also like Mechatronics, Nuclear, Computer Science, IT, Biotechnology, Biomedical, instrumentation, Aerospace etc.. somewhat around 25-30 branches having different areas of specializations. While choosing the branch, don't go for your father's or friend's choice rather take the decision by yourself because its you who have to study for 4 yrs. and not only study but also to survive with the best possible position. While choosing the branch, make sure that you choose it after knowing the pros and cons of that branch. Scope of branch is not a serious case as if you are committed to your work you will surely be praised not by words but even in your bank a/c also. So choose wisely because its a life changing decision and your whole life depends on it. All The Best |

Re: Which engineering branch should I choose?
Hi friend,
Engineering is like an ocean which opt many courses for you. From that to select only one course you must first picturize what you want to do in future. According to me civil, mechanical, and electrical are never dying courses. Because construction of buildings, machines, electricity never stops. |

Re: Which engineering branch should I choose?
Hello friend,
In the present scenario, almost every branch of engineering has good career prospect. Since there are various branches of engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electronics & communication Engineering and Computer Science are evergreen departments of engineering. Now, each one of these requires specific skill and hence, the selection of course depends upon your expertise and interest. Being an engineering graduate in Mechanical/ Electronics&Communication/Civil Engineering, you will be eligible to join private as well as public sector. As you have mentioned that you father wants you to pursue civil engineering or electrical engineering, I would suggest you to go for his first choice-Civil Engineering if interested. While making a list of top ten engineering departments, i will definitely put civil engineering right on top because of its ever growing demand The demand for civil engineers is ever growing due to the infrastructural development in India. The state as well as central government are always in need for qualified civil engineers to work on their projects designed to provide better infrastructure in our country. Finally, its your interest and expertise that matters. Whichever branch you select, you must try to be very good at it. |

Re: Which engineering branch should I choose?
It is common confusion among all 12th passed students.
There are some who just opt for branch as suggested by their elders or teachers without caring their own interest. Even there are students who are top scorers in boards exam just take up Comp. Sc. & doesnt find it interesting afterwards. So, my advice is, contact all those people around you who are in different branch of engineering so that you may get some idea about different fields & then decide which you like most. As for your father, he must be saying so because of good opportunities in electrical & civil which i think is not the correct criteria, remember every branch has lots of opportunities to work, so dont make placement only your criteria. |

Re: Which engineering branch should I choose?
According to me you prefer ECE rather than Civil you will have many more job oppurtunities in ECE as it is a platform for both Hardware and Software.......
so you are eligible for jobs in both fields......Next they were given more preference in government sector too......Finally what i want to say is if you still have a choice you prefer ECE.........ALL THE BEST! |

interest. Its helpful for your future. If also interested in civil or electrical branch then its also a good options. These are the core branches and so much scope in todays life. But the other thing these branches are also very hard as compare to other branches. So if you have the capability then both are very good options for you. If you are have interest in computer then you can also choose computer branch. Its also very good branch. So my suggestion is you have to choose the one which you have more interest. All branches are very good and have their own value. So its up to you. Choose the right one. All the best |
