Since Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is a special wing in every state police, you have got to join the police department to be considered eligible for CID.
Now, since you are a graduate, you may either apply for the post of Sub-Inspector by writing state level examination or you may write civil service examination conducted by Union Public Service Commission to join the police department as an ACP/ASP.
For the civil service examination, the age limit is between 21-30 years with relaxation in the maximum age limit for reserved category and as far as the age limit for the position of Sub-Inspector in state police is concerned, it is usually between 20-27 years but may vary depending upon the state conducting the examination.

In order to join the Criminal Investigation Department, one has to , fist of ll, join the Police Department. CID is not an independent agency like the Central Bureau of Investigation (C.B.I) but is actually one of the wing or branch that every state police comprise of. The Criminal Investigation Department often take care of special criminal cases assigned to them by the department.
So, since you are 26 years old, you are quite eligible to join the police department either as an Sub-Inspector in state police or you may join the Indian Police Service by qualifying civil service exam conducted by the Union Public Service Commission. To be eligible for any of them, you must hold a bachelors degree, in any discipline. The selection procedure of Sub-Inspector in the police department is carried either by the state police or the public service commission of the particular state.

The Eligibility regarding age is 21-27 years

you can enter into CID as Inspector but the high level jobs are obtained by IPS \officers only
