Crime Branch CID (Criminal Investigation Department) is a specialised wing in many state police forces in India of their Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

Other branches of the CID are

• State Crime Investigation Bureau
• Finger Print Bureau
• and Scientific Section.

To join in CID you need to write the EXAM conducted by UPSC...!!
Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) recruits Police personnel through the Civil Services Examination in three level

• (IPS cadre)
• State Public Service Commissions
• and by the District Police Headquarters.

Some of the police personnel selected via either of these routes are appointed by the CID on a regular posting if they have the requisite aptitude.
No separate notifications are issued for recruitment to the CID.

Age Limit:
20-25 years..

Qualification will depend on the level you want to join. For constables it is 10 plus2,for SI it is graduation and also for officer it is graduation. For SI/officer level you have to qualify competitive examination.In case you qualify civil services examination and get entry in IPS you can get posting in CID.

How to become a CID officer -

To become a CID officer, then you have to appear the exams conducted by UPSC. And This exams is held generally once a year for the post of Sub-Inspectors of Police in Central Bureau of Investigation and the application forms and other particulars are published in the Employment News in the month of October.

Eligiblity -*

If you have completed your bacholar degree, then you are eligible for appear in this exams. But your age is between 20 to 25 years.
