How can I become a pilot in Indian Air Force when I am 19 years old?
I want to become a pilot and I will appear the Higher Secondary examination in 2016. My D.O.B is 8'th May 1997. I saw the eligibility list of NDA exam 2016 and found that the d.o.b shouldnot be before june 1997.
So is there any other way of becoming a pilot in the Indian air force when I'm 19 years old? |

Only those candidates are eligible to apply whose DOB lies between 2 July, 1997 and 1 July, 2000. Since your DOB is 8th May 1997, so you are not eligible to apply for NDA Exam. However, you can apply for AFCAT exam or CDS Exam after pursuing and completing bachelor course in any discipline from any recognized institution to become Pilot in IAF. Both the exams require graduation in any discipline from any recognized University to apply for it. |

To join the Indian Air Force as a pilot you need to qualify the N.D.A. exam that is conducted for the 12th qualified candidates and the exam is conducted for all three wings of Indian Armed Forces.
Eligibility criteria for the N.D.A. is- >> Candidate should be qualified the 12th from any stream and should be a Indian citizen. >> A subject of Nepal or Bhutan can also apply if he is migrated to India since 1962 for the permanent residence. >> A candidate of Science stream can apply for all the three wings but commerce and art candidates can only apply for the Indian Army. >> Candidate age should be 16.5 -19 years old and should be physically fit with eye sight of 6/6. Selection process is - Written exam Personal Interview |

You are right about the criteria which you have mentioned as candidates who are born not earlier than 02nd July 1997 and not later than 01st July 2000 are only eligible for applying for the NDA exam as per the age limit criteria. You need to satisfy all the criteria needed for the exam in order to apply such as nationality, age limit, educational qualification, martial status and physical standards. If you fail to satisfy any of the one criteria then you are ineligible for applying for the NDA exam. To know more information regarding the NDA exam check at http://www.upsc.gov.in |

Dear,
According to the age limits for the NDA,it is mandatory for a candidate to have the DOB between 2 july 1997 and 1 july 2000. So,As you've found, you are not eligible for seating in NDA exams. Now,the best other option that is left for you is to prepare for CDS examination.Eligibilities for CDS exams are as following; *1) A candidate applyingforr CDS examination should must have an age between 19 years and 23 years. *2) Candidate should must have completedi the graduation with passing marks. *3) Candidate should must be unmarried. I hope these informations will help you. Best of luck! |
