CATE - Common aptitude test for English is an exam conducted by the Delhi University to filter the cream english talent from the crowd.

So as such no syllabus is provided by DU for CATE, but its pattern has been followed and seen that general english, literature and gramatical questions are asked. Its not tough, but the cut offs go very high.

So if you know good english, and you don't commit errors, you can easily get a good rank, and get yourself enrolled in a good college.

there is no such syllabus .. if you are good with literature , grammer etc you will be selected .. it is not tough

I am Attempting CATE this year. I have asked for help from some seniors too but nobody has been able to tell me exactly what i need to study for the examination...is it kind of like IOEL? I mean IOEL was extremely difficult...the average score reached 64 outta 100 :/

The entrance test is for 2 hours and there r 2 parts in the questn paper. If u do nt qualify in the 1st part, ure 2nd part wil nt be checkd.

The paper is of Two Sections . Part A and B . Part A consist of Objective questions and Part B is for writing skills (usually have Passage based questions and Essays/Articles ) .

But make sure you do well in the Part A cause Part B is only checked if you clear Part A !

Hey! guys chill the eligibility is 45% marks in agg. as well as in English from any Indian board and the dates for filling of forms are 25 may to 4 june you need to give the exam on 9th June and the merit list is prepared in a ratio of 30% BFS (Best four Subjects agg.) and 70% CATE score last year the highest CATE consolidated score was just over 91 and anyone who scored 79.55 or above very easily got admission in Hindu college(in the 3rd cut off it's first cutoff being 80.55 CATE score) So if you scored around say 80% in BFS thenn your 30% is 24 marks it would be added with the 70% of what you score in the 2 part(50 each CATE exam)
