Re: How to join CBI or CID?
Crime Investigation Department (CID) or the Crime Branch is an important branch of state police just the Anti Terror Squad (ATS). While ATS deals in terror related matters, the job of CID is to investigate complicated cases that require high level of technical expertise which only they posses.
As you may know that each state has its own Crime Investigation Department. The CID generally gets cases making headline throughout the state, the ones that are complicated for ordinary police force and ones that are spread over several districts and possibly to multiple states. Examples are murder cases, robbery and even terror cases on some occassions. Although it has become very rare these days because NIA is called upon to investigate every single terror case in the country. Eligibility: To become Crime Investigation Department (CID) officer, you would require to appear in UPSC Civil Service Examination. Here are the eligibility criteria:- Nationality: Only Indian Citizens are allowed to appear for Civil Service Examination. Age: The age limit is 21 to 25 years to become CID officer. However the age limit is extended by 5 years for the SC/ST/OBC candidates. Education: Those who are applying for constable post in CID need qualification of 10+2. For officer level post, candidates should have graduation degree with at least 60 percent marks. |
