Pass in 12th is not enough to join IPS. Graduation (in any discipline) is the basic qualification required. No specific mark percentages are required. Upper age limit for the applicant is 30 years. You can appear for the exam after completion of graduation and you should be at least 21 years old.

To join IPS there is no requirement of any percentage of marks in any level of education, the minimum academic qualification is Graduation.
To become an IPS(Indian Police Service) officer you have to apply, appear and crack Civil Service Exam conducted by UPSC every year. The eligible candidate must be an Indian Citizen . He should have either appeared for the final Graduation Degree exam or pass in any stream from a recognised University within the age of 21 to 30 years with upper age relaxation for reserved candidate. He should possess good Physical and Mental Fitness. In addition, the candidate aspiring for IPS should have maintained minimum physical requirement such as:- The height should be 165cm for General/OBC Male and 150cm for Female candidate while Sc/ST Male should be 160cm and Female-145cm. The Chest should be 84cm for Male and 79cm for Female candidate expandable to 5cm in both the cases. The selection is through three stages:- -CSAT - Civil Service Aptitude Test - Preliminary Exam -Civil Service Main Exam -Personal Interview For more information you may log on to http://www.upsc.gov.in |

To become an IPS officer you have to apply for the civil service examination. The civil service examination is conducted by the UPSC every year. This exam is conducted in 3 levels. First is the preliminary examination, then mains and finally interview. Those cleared the preliminary are eligible for the mains and who cleared the mains will be called for the interview.
The qualification, age and other details regarding civil service examination is given below: Education Qualification For the civil service examination a candidate should be graduate in any discipline from the recognized university. Those appeared in the final year examination are also eligible to apply for the civil service examination. Age Limit Candidate applying for the civil service examination should have age between 21 to 30 years. Relaxation in age will be given to reserved category candidates. > For SC/ST relaxation of 5 years. > For OBC relaxation of 3 years. hi friend, IPS stands for Indian Police Service A candidate must have completed their graduation Degree in any Discipline with at lest 55%....... Final year students are also applicable..... Citizen of India........ Age Limit: General category student:- 21-30 years. OBC relaxation in upper age 21-33 years. SC/ST relaxation in upper age 21-35 years. No. Attempt: General - 4 OBC - 7.
