Re: How many seats are vacant in B.Tech Lateral Entry?
The Lateral Entry Scheme is to get admission in the second year of B.Tech course. It is only offered to candidates who have either compelted diploma in Engineering or the B.Sc course.
The aim of lateral entry scheme is to provide more options to the diploma and B.Sc students because the job scope in these fields are shrinking by each passing day of the year. As per your question, unfortunately there is no fix number of how may seats are vaccant for the lateral entry scheme. This is because different universities have different quota for the lateral entry scheme. One thing that you can be certain about is that almost every single Engineering college with the exception of IITs offer lateral entry to the diploma in Engineering or the B.Sc candidates. The colleges reserve some number of seats for the lateral entry. This number is different for each college, but it is generally between 10 to 20 percent of total seats available in the college. How To Apply The procedure of getting admission in Engineering college via lateral entry is different for each university. While some would give you admission directly on the basis on marks obtained in the diploma in Engineering or the B.Sc course, other colleges would ask you to appear in their own entrance exam. Please note that for direct admission you would require at least 60 percent marks in the diploma or B.Sc. However some colleges would even give admission on 50 percent marks however such colleges are very few. Another popular way to get admission in Engineering via lateral entry is LEET exam which is conducted separately in each state. LEET stands for Lateral Entry Engineering Test. The requirement to appear in LEET exam is: 1. You must have passed diploma in Engineering or B.Sc course. 2. Candidate must have scored at least 60 percent marks. |

Re: How many seats are vacant in B.Tech Lateral Entry?
Quote:
According the new rules of AICTE 2012,there will be 20% seat reservation for Lateral entry admissions.Firstly it was only 10%,but now it is raised to 20%. For ex: If a College have 60 seats for a particular stream, then it will have to reserve 12 seats(20% of total) for the candidates who will seek admission through Lateral entry mode. Eligibility conditions for Lateral entry admissions:
There are some Colleges which allow Lateral entry admissions,so some Colleges allow admission through Entrance test whereas some allow admission on the basis of Merit. Most prestigious Engineering Colleges offering Lateral entry admissions on the basis of Entrance Test are: Punjab University,Chandigarh. Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology,Patiala. Guru Gobind Singh IP University,Delhi. Sant Longoval Institute of Engineering and Technology,Sangrur. Harcourt Butler Technological Institute,Kanpur. On the basis of your rank in the Entrance test, you will be allotted a particular branch. Most prestigious Engineering Colleges offering Lateral entry admissions directly on the basis of Merit are: Government College of Engineering,Pune. Punjabi University,Patiala. Punjab Technical University,Jallandhar. KIITS University,Orrissa. Chitkara University,Chandigarh. Guru Tegh Bahadur Institute of Technology,Delhi Amity School of Engineering and Technology,Noida Delhi Technological University,Delhi. Netaji Subhash Institute of Technology,Delhi. Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College,Ludhiana DAV Institute of Engineering and Technology,Jallandhar. SBS College of Engineering and Technology,Ferozepur. Chandigarh Group of Colleges,Chandigarh. I have also got admission through Lateral entry in GNE,Ludhiana because my % in Diploma was 78%.So,you need to score high in Diploma in order to get admission in reputed Engineering College. All the best. |

Re: How many seats are vacant in B.Tech Lateral Entry?
LEET stands for Lateral Entry Entrance Test and it is conducted by various state and private universities for admission in B.Tech/ B.E course through lateral entry.
So, it is not possible to give you the details of available number of seats for each stream and in each universities/colleges. The required qualification to appear for examination is that candidate must have passed diploma from a recognised university with minimum 60%. The candidates will be eligible to get admission in 2nd year of course. The admission is not conducted on the basis of merit score in government andthe best private colleges. So, you have to qualify in examination. |
