The exam pattern of UPSC has changed and now it will be called CSAT that is Civil services aptitude test and for the preliminary exam you do not have to choose any subject. the preliminary paper will consist two papers-1 and paper-2. Syllabus for paper-1 is Current events of national and international importance History of India and Indian national movement Indian and World Geography- physical, social, economic geography of India and the world Indian Polity and governance – constitution, political system, panchayati raj, public policy, Rights issues, etc. Economic and social development – sustainable development, poverty, inclusion, demographics, social sector initiatives etc. General issues on environmental ecology, bio-diversity and climate change-that donot require subject specialization General science. and for paper-2 Comprehension Interpersonal skills including communication skills Logical reasoning and analytical ability Decision making and problem solving General mental ability Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude etc. (Class X level), Data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc. –Class X level) English language comprehension skills (Class X level) You have to choose a subject for the Mains exam only not for preliminary |

Acc. to the new pattern of Civils there is no options in prelims.
In Prelims you have to do 2 papers General Studies Paper I - (200 marks) Duration: Two hours CSAT Paper II- (200 marks) Duration: Two hours The mains part is same as it was in earlier times. You have to give these papers Paper I One of the Indian languages 300 marks Paper II English 300 marks Paper III Essay 200 marks Papers IV and V General Studies 300 marks for each paper Papers VI, VII, VIII and IX Any two subjects from the list of optional subjects & Each subject will have two papers. 300 marks for each paper List of indian languages is this - Assamese, Bengali, Bodo, Dogri, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada Kashmiri, Konkani, Maithili, Malayalam Manipuri, Bengali, Marathi, Nepali,Oriya Punjabi, Sanskrit, Santhali, Sindhi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu List of subjects Is This Agriculture, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Anthropology, Botany, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Commerce and Accountancy,Economics, Electrical Engineering, Geography, Geology, History, Law, Management, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Medical Science, Philosophy, Physics, Political Science and International Relations, Psychology, Public Administration, Sociology, Statistics, Zoology Remember You can not select these combinations - (a) Political Science & International Relations and Public Administration; (b) Commerce & Accountancy and Management; (c) Anthropology and Sociology; (d) Mathematics and Statistics; (e) Agriculture and Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science. (f) Management and Public Administration; (g) Of the Engineering subjects, viz., Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering–not more than one subject. I am not proficient in any Indian language but have a good command over the English Language.I had Hindi as my second language upto class 10.My level of knowledge of hindi is only average.Please tell me to what extent this will hamper my chances.

HI Dear....... Civil Service Exam is conducted through UPSC every year , There are many exam like IAS , IFS , IPS , IES etc..for which candidates appear Civil Service Exam . The eligibility criteria for this exam. **The candidates should be a graduate in any stream from a recognize university. **The age limit is 21 - 30 yrs, **There is a age relaxation for reserved candidates. **The candidates should be an Indian citizen. Civil service have two parts Preliminary and Mains.Preliminary is completely objective.But mains is descriptive.Here I am sending few file regarding whole information of Civil services.Those file make you clear about eligibility,papers available,what papers you are eligible for,age limit,limit on number of attempts.
