request you to please let me know how many total seats are approximately available for general category students.

There is no fixed number of seats for IAS and IPS. The number of seats varies from year to year. The number of seats in IAS depends on the requirements of Central and State government. In some year the number of seats is 90 and some years it is 65. According to a recent notification the number of seats in civil service is increased from 500 to 610. It is expected that there will be nearly 110 seats in IAS.

Let me rephrase my Question.. How many seats are there in Civil services or general category ??

which branch should i opt in engineering so that it will help me in taking my IAS exam

I am persuing engineering in siet college tumkur banglore karnataka after engineering I wanna join civil service.so most respectfully I say that if u have any important questionsoor any information for iAS then tell me . Dude its either ssit or sit. There is no college named siet in tumkur anyhow donttry to sail in two boat concentrate on our under graduate and along with that keep reading current affairs and gs topics. I hope you are student of mechanical engineering.
