Admission to the two year Master of Computer Application course in Symbiosis University is done through the Symbiosis National Aptitude Test (SNAP) followed by a Group Exercise (GE) and Personal Interview (PI). The total intake for the MCA course is 90 students.

Graduates with 50% marks in any discipline from a recognized university are eligible to apply. Those belonging to the SC/ST category with a minimum of 45% marks can also apply.

Candidates seeking to specialize in Embedded Systems should have studied Electronics or Computer Science as one of the subjects at the graduation level.

Selection Procedure

Candidates who register for Symbiosis Institute of Computer Studies and Research (SICSR) are required to undergo a three stage selection procedure. The three stages for admission to the MCA course are as follows:

Symbiosis National Aptitude Test (SNAP)
Group Exercise (GE)
Personal Interview (PI)

Symbiosis National Aptitude Test (SNAP)

SNAP is held every December in various centres across India. SNAP follows the objective model with multiple choice questions. There will be a 25% negative marking for incorrect answers.

Candidates are required to complete 120 questions in 180 minutes.

The test contains four sections:

General Awareness: General Knowledge, Business Scenario, Current Affairs
Quantitative, Data Interpretation & Data Sufficiency
General English: Verbal Reasoning, Reading Comprehension, Verbal Ability
Analytical & Logical Reasoning

There will be 40 questions each from General English: Reading Comprehension, Verbal Reasoning, Verbal Ability section, Quantitative, Data Interpretation & Data Sufficiency section and General Awareness: General Knowledge, Current Affairs, Business Scenario section. Each of these sections carries 40 marks. Analytical & Logical Reasoning section contains 30 questions for 60 marks.

Group Exercise (GE)

Candidates will be short listed for the Group Exercise based on the SNAP score. GE evaluates the candidate’s subject knowledge, communication skills, group interaction, personality and confidence.

Personal Interview (PI)

The Personal Interview (PI) is the final stage in the selection process which intends to measure a candidate’s commitment and passion in the field. The conduct, personality and attitude of the candidate are also assessed at this stage.

While SNAP carries a weightage of 90 marks the weightage for work experience is 10 marks. Marks at 10th, 12th and graduation together have a weightage of 30 marks. Group discussion carries a weightage of 30 marks and the personal interview has a 40 marks weightage.

The aspirants can access the merit list from the university website. An e-mail and a selection letter confirming the selection will be sent to candidates who are selected. Candidates are required to pay the fees specified at the time of admission.
