Thumbs up Re: How to prepare the English and General Awareness Section of Bank Exams? Which books to refer for preparation?

hello friend

the only best way to prepare for english and general awareness is to study the mind of the paper setter of different competitive exams like CIVILS and IES and CAT XAt etc

you can go through different previous years exam papers and prepare your own questions and then face the mock exams which are available online now
and a very good book for english is

ENGLISH THROUGH PRACTICE by CIEFL(central institute for english and foreign Languages ) which will be available in all famous book shops

all the best

hi!

The english section of bank PO exam consists of questions on reading comprehension, para jumbling, vocablury, grammer etc.

For reading comprehension & grammer you can refer any good book. And for vocabulary you can refer word power by Norman Lewis.

The general awareness section consists of questions on current affair, general science, banking & finance and sometimes marketing aptitude.

To prepare for general awareness you must read pratiyogita darpan magazine. Also read newspaper daily & pay attention to buiseness section.

Lightbulb Re: How to prepare the English and General Awareness Section of Bank Exams? Which books to refer for preparation?

Bank Clerical Crade written Examination have one Test for English Language which consist of Comprehention, Synonyms, Antonyms, Jumbled sentences, Spotting Errors, Analysis of grametical mistakes like usage of nouns, adverbs, tenses, genders, gerunds, etc.

To cover all these you need to prepare from S.Chand's "High School English Grammer and Composition" by Wren and Martin, the book is commonly known as just "Wren and Martin". . And if you want to improve your gramatical analysis then i personally suggest you to regularly read English Newspaper Loudly and English Magzines too. This will definetly improve your grammer and you can easily spot errors even while reading.

Many Thanks

Hey you can refer the books of GRE Barron and even R.S Agarwal.

These two books are the best to prefer for bank clerical exams,in campus placements,CAT,GMAT and other such exams where Aptitude ,General ability and Mental ability test.
You can get the books in all the book stores.
You can even refer the old question papers for better preparation.

all the best

Hi

For many preparing for english is very difficult but in actual it is not.
You just need to put in little effort to work on your english

First you should read daily english news paper. This would help you in following ways

- It would help you with reading habit
- would help in reading and understand the comprehensive passage
- It would enrich your vocabulary
- You will learn which point to underline or keep in mind and which to leave.
- it would also help you in gaining general awareness

another thing is you should read wren and martin grammer book and solve the problem given. Its very easy to understand book

Once you have done these things. Try to solve as many mock question papers as possible. and after solving do analyse, where you went wrong and which area you spent more time.
