IPS Stands for Indian Police services and to become IPS Officer you need to apply for the UPSC Civil services examination, The examination was conducted by Comission every year.

>> But firstly candidates need to cracked the Preliminary examination and then you are eligible to sit in Main examination. Preliminary examination was totally Objective type and there are two papers in preliminary examination and both of are same duration and same Marks.

If you are in the final year of MBBS and if you are confident of showing your result by the time the Main Exam of Civil Services Exam takes place, then, you are eligible to appear.

The last date is fast approaching. Please refer to upsc.gov.in.

You will be eligible to appear in the Civil Services Exam in the year when you will complete the BCom course. That is a good two years away.

So, you have ample time to make your preparations. Make optimum use of time. Subscribe to some good competititon journals and go through them carefully. Try to solve all the exercised by yourself. Take help from your faculty members, seniors and any Civil Services passed person in your viicinity. Read newspapers regularly and keep yourself abreast with GK and current affairs.

In the meanwhile, also decide which optional subjects you would like to choose and develop your abilities on those subjects. Past question papers (available in UPSC website upsc.gov.in) and syllabus in the current notification will make your decision making easy.

If you have time and resources, join in some coaching institute.

Remember, hard work certainly pays.

you need to sit in and clear civil services examination conducted by UPSC...you atleast need a graduation degree with high second division to sit in this examination...
first of all complete your graduation and have a great command over your subject.....you can start preparing for general knowledge and general studies by throughly reading NCERT books and magazines like Competition success, frontline and newspapers like hindu....
general studies is the head ache of most IPS aspirants , so start preparing for it as soon you decide to seriously think IPS as a career option.
