Re: IAS after diploma course in computer science?
Dear nikhilvk,
You have provided insufficient data for answering your query. You have said that you have cpleted your Diploma in Computer Science, but not mentioned weather post graduate or under graduate diploma. However, for becoming IAS officers you have to Crack the Entrance conducted by UPSC (http://www.upsc.gov.in) every year. The minimum eligibility is candidate must have passed Gradution in any stream that does'nt matters, weather regular or coresspondance that's also no matter. Caracking IAS Entrance is not an easy task. First you have to crack Preliminaries, then Main, then Group Discussion(GD),then Personal Interview(PI). Notofication are released in december or january every year. Entrance for this year has already been conducted, and an MBBS doctor "Shah Faisal" from Kashmir has TOPED this year. Best of luck |

Re: IAS after diploma course in computer science?
You have to appear for civil services exam conducted by UPSC. First there will be a prelims which is objective type, shortlisted candidates will appear for a main exam which is essay and written based followed by an interview. You need to be a graduate for appearing for the prelims. Though a pass is required, consistency of academics and performance will be considered in the interview stage.

Re: IAS after diploma course in computer science?
Hello friend,
Diploma is not enough to be eligible to write the civil service exam. You need to have a bachelor's degree in any stream. Apart from educational qualification, there is also an age limit to write the exam. You must not be over 30 years if general, 35 years if SC/ST and 33 years if OBC. So, if you are passionate about IAS, you must complete a bachelor's programme as soon as possible to be eligible for it. |

Re: IAS after diploma course in computer science?
Hello friend,
It is appreciable to know that you have keen interest for IAS exam. But i regret that you can't apply for this, as a candidate must have a bachelor's degree to apply for IAS exam, only diploma will not work. I will suggest you to finish degree course in computer science first and then apply for IAS exam. Though it will be better for you if you apply for IES exam. Good luck! |

As far as IAS examination is concerned no one will recommend you a particular subject directly. Because for IAS exam you need to prepare in all possible way that could be. Therefore it is always said that first find the subject where your interest lies. As a matter of fact history is more interesting than Agriculture but the syllabus of History is very much wider so it will need more preparation as well. But if History isterests you, you will need comparatively less time. If you want to start preparation from now on then you can start with covering up General studies section and Current affairs. For this you can refer science and arts books of 8,9,10 standards. For current affairs refer THE HINDU dailiy and some magazines like CHRONICLE, CSR, India Today and Pratiyogita Darpan. You can start your Mains preparation once you are done with at least 50-60% of the GS syllabus. Thank you |

Dear,
You did not make your question very clear , still as per as I understood I think that you are confused about the eligibility criteria of the IAS exam. The eligibility criteria for the IAS exam is as follows:- -> The minimum educational qualification is to be a graduate. -> Age limitation is between 21-30 years with 5 years relaxation for the SC/ST and 3 years relaxation for the OBC category. -> You need to clear the CSAT i.e. civil services aptitude test before appearing for the mains. For more details:- http://www.upsc.gov.in/. Thanks. |

Re: IAS after diploma course in computer science?
for IAS you have to appear in civil service examination. the eligibility criterion for civil service examination is candidate should have minimum of graduation degree from a recognized university. but diploma is not considered as graduation. so after diploma you can not appear in civil service examination.
if you really want to appear in civil service examination then you have to take admission in any graduation course. for this you may take admission in B.Tech either through lateral entry directly in second year or through engineering entrance examination in first year. after completion of your B.Tech you will be eligible for civil service examination. you may also take admission in any other graduation course also like B.Sc or BCA or BBA etc. to appear in civil service examination also you should have age between 21 to 30 if you belongs to general category candidate. for SC/ST there is relaxation of 5 years in upper age limit and for OBC candidate there is relaxation of 3 years in upper age limit. here i am attaching the notification for this year civil service examination. go through the attachment you will get all details about the examination and other eligibility criterion. for more details visit UPSC official website http://www.upsc.gov.in all the best. |

No,you are not Eligible for Civil Service Examination.
Because the candidate should have a graduate degree from a Recognized University and Diploma is Not considered as Graduation. So,After diploma course you can not Appear for IAS Examination. First Complete your Graduation In Any Course. But It is Equivalent to the Graduation and there is no specific course. The Age should be 21 - 30 Yrs. |

well, eligibilty for IAS is graduation from any recognised university. so you must complete graduation in order to appear for IAS examination. Since you have mentioned that you have done a diploma course not a bachelor's degree , so you are not eligible for it.
I would suggest you that if you want to appear for IAS examination then you must complete bachelor's degree first as soon as possible from any recognised university. |

Re: IAS after diploma course in computer science?
No, you are not eligible to apply for IAS because for applying for IAS you should be a graduate with atleast 50% marks in your graduation.
So, you have to do graduation if you wants to apply for IAS. To apply for IAS your age should be 21-30 years for general category. For OBC it should be 33 years maximum. For ST/SC it should be 35 years maximum. For preparing for IAS you should have a very strong general knowledge, you should have a good knowledge of the current affairs. As the syllabus is very broad you have to make a time table to cover all the portions. The entrance examination is divided into three main stages Preliminary exam. Main exam. Interview. If you clear all these stages you will become an IAS officer. For more information please visit www.upsc.gov.in |
