Re: If I am doing BSc Horticulture which optional to choose for IAS exam?
hi..
you can choose any subject of your choice as your optional subject as there is no rule that you have to choose an particular subject if you belong to an particular field, the list of subjects are available at www.upsc.gov.in have an look in it and choose the subject in which you feel that you will be able to do well, make the choice very judicially because its an very competitive exam and every marks count |

As you know that IAS is a Three stage Examination ->Prelims ->Mains ->P I these are the sections which you have to clear Prelims has the common syllabus and conducted with the name of CSAT this is going to be implemented from this year only. Here till last year we used to select the optionals but by latest pattern there is no need to select optionals Mains is the second stage examination where you have to select the optionals from the available optionals the list of optional subjects are Mathematics Agriculture Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science Botany Chemistry Civil Engineering Commerce Economics Electrical Engineering Geography Geology Indian History Law Mathematics Management Mechanical Engineering Medical Science Philosophy Physics Political Science Psychology Public From these optionals you can select one which is relating and interesting to you so that you should feel happy while learning and practicing on the questions this should be the attitude while selecting the optionals Regards ~AdityA~ |

Re: If I am doing BSc Horticulture which optional to choose for IAS exam?
In main exam you have to select the optional subjects from the following:
Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Commerce and Accountancy, Economics, Electrical Engineering, Geography, Geology, History, Law, Management, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Medical Science, Philosophy, Physics, Political Science and International Relations, Psychology, Public Administration, Sociology, Statistics, Zoology. Literatures: Arabic, Assamese, Bengali, Chinese, English, French, German, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Kashmiri, Konkani, Marathi, Malayalam, Manipuri, Nepali, Oriya, Pali, Persian, Punjabi, Russian, Sanskrit, Sindhi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu. So you are from horticulture background, you can choose subjects from... Agriculture and Zoology/Botany/Psychology etc... Whatever subject you choose, remember that : you have very deep and clear knowledge about the subjects. You can score good in those subjects. You love to learn about those subjects. But don't the following combinations: Political Science & International Relations and Public Administration Commerce and Management Anthropology and Sociology Maths and Statistics Agriculture and Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science Management and Public Administration Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science and Medical Science Any two branches of engineering. Combination of two literatures in the above list. |
