Sikkim manipal university is co-educational public-private funded university established in 1995.SMU is recognized by University Grants Commission (UGC),ministry of HRD and Distance Education Council (DEC). Sikkim Manipal University (Distance Learning) is not recognized by AICTE, they have only AICTE approval on Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology.
