What is the least score for getting admission at iit in e.c.e branch

The score or the ranking of GATE exam is now done on a pecentile basis..

usuaay if you have a percentile greater than 90% percentile then probably you will be eligible for IITs...but these trends are subject to change and not confirmed...

but as a general if you can get rank with in 500, then you can get iits easily.

that means you have to get above 98 percentile in the gate exam.

Different IITs have different cut-off in the admission in M.Tech degree in ECE department.

The cut-off for ECE students taking admission in IIT,Bombay, IIT(Delhi),IIT(Kanpur) was appx 720 in this year.

But on the basis of the cut-off marks in this year in IITs, you can get a chance after getting appx. 650 GATE score, but not in all IITs.

the GATE cut off scores for iit in ece are as follows--

Open / General---620
OBC ---615
SC ---430
ST ---375

The minimum score for getting into IITs will be varies every year according to the cutoff. But as last year cutoff 600+will be enough for the electronics and communication.
So prepare well for the gate entrance exam because it will be tough for the student who were attempting first time.

previous year the cut off marks for the gate exams for the ece was 25 for the general category.

for getting admission in the iits your persentile must be more than 95.

this year the examination for the gate is on 13 february 2010.

It is unpredictable matter,because it varies every year.And if any vacent seat is there then 4th or 5th list also published.

To get admission in IIT for MTech in ECE, you have to secure marks above then 95 percentile. Now i want to explain about percentile.In gate exam the marks of top ranker is made scale for judging the marks of other candidate, Mathematically you can say that

Percentile= (your marks obtained in the GATE multiply by100 )/ Marks of top ranker in the GATE.

minimum GATE score to take admission in IIT vary from IIT to IIT and from year to year.

average you should have more than 90 percentile to take admission in IIT. for M.Tech there is no branch like e.c.e

in M.Tech program there are so many branch divided from E.C.E. E.C.E student may choose any one from so many branch like vlsi, digital communication, analog communication, control system, microprocessor etc.

Its 60 percent but you must have to clear entrance Exam........

Minimum marks is depand on different branches of mtech for ece.
for branches like miroelctronics, VLSI, Enbedded technology, Communicaiton Engineering, Mirowave engineering.
power electornics cut off score is very high above 99 percentile for the IIT bombay, delhi, kanpur, roorkee.
and little bit less for iit kharagpur, gawahati, IT BHU.

For branches like automation, Material, have lower cut off but not too low around 98 percentile.
These data is valid for general category and decrease for other categories.

Network Applications and etc...

we cant say exactly,in some case it will be more and it will be less..its depends up on the competition.
but according to previous selection process, u must get >=90%

GATE score varies from institute to institute in IIT it is also varies but as an average you need to have more than 95% in your GATE score to get admission in a good IIT.

A minimum score of about 625 for the general category is the threshold limit... u will have to score a min of that to stand a chance..

to take admisssion in any iit collage you need to secure more than 90% in gate exam .so you must secure more than 90% in your gate . good luck

You work so hard to get into IIT
Because now a days the competition is so tough and so you have to score at least 98% to get in to IITs .
You have to get all India rank below 500 and its so difficult as you know
So work hard and achieve your goal!!
Try to solve as many papers as possible and try to cover entire

You will have to score atleast 90% of the marks to be there in an IIT and to get ECE try to score 95% marks to be on the safer side..

Minimum GATE Score required for admission in IIT for M.Tech ECE is not fixed at all.
But this year most probably you've to score minimum around 45-50 marks to get admitted in IITs.
And also what was the speculations last year that, if you're getting above 95 percentile then only there is the chance to be in IIT in your stream i.e. ECE.

CUT-OFF SCORES FROM VARIOUS INSTITUTIONS

Each institute has its own cut off percentage in the GATE score. We are trying to get information regarding the history of cut-off scores from all institutions.

Typical cut-off scores:
Above 96 Percentile: IITs., IISC
Between 85-96 Percentile: NITs (previously called as RECs)
Less than 85 perentile: Other institutes

GATE, (The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) is an all -India Examination conducted by the six Indian Institutes of Technology and Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, on behalf of the National Coordinating Board - GATE, Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD), Government of India.

If candidate gets Gate score 96 percentile or more then he can try for IITs, if between 85 - 96 percentile, then he can apply for top RECs, JADAVPUR, SHIBPUR, ROORKEE, etc. If less than 85, he has to look for appropriate institutes.


Candidates who get less than 70 percentile get no score card.

for getting admission in iits for M.TECH you need to have 99+ percentile in GATE EXAM.
that means your score in gate in ece branch should be 55-60 marks out of 100 marks
for iit.
-with 98 percentile you can get admission in NIT (NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY)
which are also a reputed colleges of india.

- with 95 percentile you can get admission in some private colleges like-

- vit(vellore institute of technology)

- bits pilani

- dc
