Minimum percentage required for GATE 2017 examination


Can someone tell me that what is the minimum percentage required in B.Tech for appearing in the GATE examination 2017?

GATE 2017 examination doesn't require any percentage marks in graduation or masters degree.

Those who have Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology or Architecture/Design or its equivalent or masters degree in science department are eligible for GATE exam 2017.

If you have completed or appearing final year of engineering , then you are eligible for GATE. There is no percentage criteria of B.E./B.Tech to apply for GATE.

GATE Eligibility
- You must have passed bachelor's degree in engineering from a recognized university.
- No age bar.

GATE Exam Pattern
- Total Questions : 65
- Total Marks : 100
- Questions will be based on respective branch of engineering & geeneral aptitude.
- Negative marking system of 1/3 for 1 mark questions & 2/3 for 2 marks questions.

GATE Cut Off
GATE cut off vary from institute to institute & branch wise as well as category wise. If you will have good score , then your chances will be more for getting admission in your desired institute.

Important Dates of GATE
- Registration Starts From : 1st September 2016
- Closing of Registration : 4th October 2016
- Hall Tickets Downloading : 5th January 2017
- GATE Exam Held : February , 2017
- GATE Result Announcement : 27th March 2017

There is no such percentage criteria for appearing in the GATE exam.
You just to be in the final year of your engineering or a passed out student.

Percentage matters during the placements and post graduate admission through GATE score.
Like many PSU's demand for at least 60% in B.tech along with the GATE score. But it is not the case with all the PSU's. Some Public sector Undertakings(PSU) have no criteria for b.tech percentage so if you have less percentage than 60% then you don't need to dishearten. There are always options.

Similarly, some IIT's for the M.tech admission also take into account the b.tech percentage but the major share is of the GATE score only. So, if you have less percentage in your b.tech then GATE is a good option to improve your academic profile.

GATE stands for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering.
It is conducted with collaboration of IITs and IIISc Bangalore for admission in postgraduate programs.
GATE 2017 will be conducted by Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee.
To appear in GATE 2017, candidate must have degree in B.E(Bachelor of Engineering) or B.Tech(Bachelor of Technology) or M.Sc from any recognized university.
The candidate appearing in final semester exam of the above mentioned degree are also eligible.
There is no age restriction for appearing in GATE 2017.
GATE score will be valid for 3 years.

Candidates just need to have either of above mentioned degree to appear irrespective of percentage.
If you have one of above mentioned degree from any recognized university then you can appear for it.
GATE score is not only used for admission but also it can be used to get job in private sector.
