Re: Minimum qulification and marks required in graduation for IAS entrance exam?
Hello friend,
There is no standard set for the persentage of marks to write the exam for IAS. You just need to be a graduate from a recognised university. For IAS, you will have to write Civil Service Exam conducted by UPSC. You should have attained the age of 21 years and must not be over 30 years to be eligible for it. There is a relaxation of age limit of upto 5 years for SC/ST and upto 3 years for OBC. There are three stages of the exam 1.Preliminary exam 2.Main exam 3.Interview You will need to clear the preliminary exam to qualify for the main exam and after clearing the main exam, you will be called for an interview. For further information, visit the official website of UPSC. |

Yes, you can certainly sit for the IAS exams. Academic Eligibility for appearing in the IAS Exams is a University Degree... neither your 12th marks nor your graduation percentage will be considered. What matters is that your degree should come from a Central/State Governmemnt recognized University or a
Deemed University. |

hi friend,
Actually IAS exam does not want any good percetage , it requires only a degree from a recognised university which you are already having. So prepare better from now. Only case that can be happened with you is that you will be asked by interviewer by your low percentage , so prepare this question also before interview. But an interview requires two cleared stages in IAS(pre and main). Rest is ok. |

Re: Minimum qulification and marks required in graduation for IAS entrance exam?
INDIAN CIVIL SERVICES : SCHEME OF EXAMINATION
The Civil Services Examination is conducted by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) every year. The examination has three stages i.e., (1) Civil Services Preliminary Examinations (CSP) - normally conducted during the second half of May. (2) Civil Services (Main) Examinations conducted during the month of October/November. Here, those who are selected in the preliminary examination only are eligible to appear. (3) Those who are selected in the main examination will be eligible to appear before the Interview Board at New Delhi. Preliminary Examination (CSP) CSP consists of two papers Which is common for all candidates from 2011 i.e., No optional paper is there in CSP form 2011.This is the first stage of Civil Services Examination. This is an Objective type examination consisting of Two Papers that is common to all candidates from 2011 having special emphasis on testing their “aptitude for civil services” as well as on “ethical and moral dimension of decision making”. Normally, there are about 3 lakh applications for the preliminary examination. From this, the UPSC selects 10 to 12 folds of vacancies for the main examinations. This is only for the selection and not to be taken into consideration in the main ranking. Subjects for Preliminary Examination: • As per the decision of Government of India, there shall be change in the syllabus and pattern of the Preliminary Examination from 2011 in the scheme of the Civil Services Examination. • The Preliminary Examination shall now comprise of two compulsory Papers of 200 marks each and of two hours duration each. Main Examination NOTE:The prospective candidates are advised to note that no changes are being introduced at this stage in the Civil Services (Main) Examination and Personality Test in the scheme of Civil Services Examination (CSE) for 2011 Onwards. Only those who are declared by the Commission to have qualified in the Preliminary Examination in a year, are eligible for the Main examination of that year, provided they are otherwise eligible for the Main Examination. Civil Services Main examination has two optional subjects (two papers each carries 300 marks), one General Studies (two papers each carries 300 marks), one essay (carries 200 marks) - total 2000 marks.
