have done post diploma in plastic mould design & tech.(CIPET) with 2d &3d software exp. (like autocad). what course can i take after that? m really interested in interior designing. is it possible ?

Hi,
The minimum eligibility criteria for lateral entry to 2 year engineering course is that you should should either have passed a diploma course in Engineering/ Technology/ Pharmacy from any AICTE recognised Polytechnic/ Institute with at least overall 50% marks or have passed XII standard with Mathematics as a subject and Degree in Science (B.Sc.) from U.G.C. approved Universities with at least 50% marks.

After diploma you can take admission in direct 2nd year of engineering through lateral entry. If you have at least 60% marks in your diploma then you can write following test for lateral entry:

1. LEET
2. GATE

GATE is conducted at all india level through which you can get lateral entry in IITs and other reputed colleges.

LEET i.e. lateral entry entrance test is conducted both at all india and state level that will enable you to take admission in state engineering colleges. Some of the best institutes that provide admission through LEET are:

4. Punjabi University,Patiala.

Lateral Entry

Seats Distributions : 20% of the total sanctioned intake would be reserved for the Diploma holders.

Eligibility
Candidate should have passed the 3-4 years of Diploma after 10+ in any stream of Engineering and Technology with minimum of 60% aggregate or Graduate in B.Sc with 60% aggregate.

Procedure for Lateral Entry
The admission to the B.Tech Second year through lateral entry would be made by the counselling organized by State Counseling Board, based on the rank obtained in the state entrance test UKSEE and for lapsed seats, candidates need to register in the Institute. Registration forms can be obtained from the college or could be downloaded from the official site.
