to get any type of doctoral fellowship in social sceince is it necessary to do phd based on the topic of north eastern region or is it the case that phd doing in social sceince in any area will get the fellowship?

You can do research on any topic related to social science to get the doctoral fellowship, it isn't necessary to do PhD topic based on the north eastern regions. The Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR). Doctoral Fellowships are opened to the doctoral students who are preferably below the age of 40 and the candidates have to posses a masters degree from a recognized university with first or second class and are registered for a doctoral degree in social science.
