You have not mentioned what is your level of qualification. You need to be a minimum graduate to become an IT officer. You should attend the written examination as part of it. This is mainly conducted by the SSC. If you get through the written test which is conducted, you will be called for the Interview. Based on your performance in the Interview, you will be selected for the post.

dear friend,
To become Income tax inspector you have to appear in combined graduate level exam which is conducted by staff selection commission every year..

Eligibility for Income tax inspector :----------------

1.Candidate must have complete the graduation in any trade from a recognized university..
2.Final year candidates are also eligible for the exam..
3.Candidates age should be in between 18-27 years.
For SC/ST the upper age relaxation is 5 years and for OBC the upper age relaxation is 3 years.
4.candidate should be a citizen of India.

These are the eligibility criteria you have to fulfill.
The procedure consist of three steps..
*Preliminary exam
**Main exam
***Interview..

After clearing the preliminary exam you have to go through the main exam..
If you able to crack the main exam then you will get a chance to go for interview..
After which you will become an income tax inspector..
So, get prepare for these steps..

Income tax officer exam is conducted by the SSC(Staff Selection Commission).

Eligibility criteria:

The candidate should be complete graduation from a recognised university.

Age limits is 18years to 27years, 3years age relaxation for the OBC candidates and 5years age relaxation for the SC/ST candidates.

Candidate should be a citizen of india.

Final year graduate students also eligible.

Selection procedure:

Written test,
Main exam,
Interview.

Yes you can give income tax officer exam after engineering.
For the tax officer one should be graduated and as you are graduated then you can apply for this exam.
This exam is conducted by the staff selection commission and it is the tough exam so you should do hard work.
For this you should improve your general knowledge and also increase your general English.
You should also do preparation of general arithmetic problems………

1.Qualification:

as you have done graduation in B.Com ,so you are positively eligible.
