There are various recognized Universities which offers Phd in Physics. Admission to most of the recognized Universities and Institutes are through Written Tests conducted by the same. Candidate who have appeared in the National or State level Entrance Test are exempted from the Written Test and are directly called for the Interview. The past academic record is also taken into consideration while taking admission. Candidate must hold a Masters Degree with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks.

Following are the list of some of the recognized Universities/Institutes along with admission criteria:

Christ University - The Department of Physics

Candidate must have completed the Masters Degree with a minimum of 55% aggregate beside holding a M.Phil Degree in the relevant subject from a recognized University. Admission is through Written Test followed by Personal Interview. Candidates who have appeared for NET/SLET are exempted from appearing the Christ University Entrance Test for Ph.D Program. Candidate with Research experience are exempted from holding a M.Phil Degree.

National Institute of Science Education And Research, Bhubaneswar

Candidate must have scored a minimum of 60% aggregate in the Masters Degree from a recognized University. Candidates should have qualified the CSIR-NET/JEST/GATE examination valid for the current year. The Institute conduct a Written Examination followed by an Interview for the final selection for PhD admission.
