Income Tax Officer is a very important post in any country. The Income Tax Officer works for the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) which is a department that comes under the Ministry of Finance in India.


The role of Income Tax Officer becomes even more crucial in India since very few people pay their taxes properly. As a result Income Tax Officer has to conduct raids on any information that is received by the department on tax evaders.

In order to become Income Tax Officer you need to appear for the entrance exam conducted by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC).



Eligibility

1. Candidate must be of Indian origin.

2. At least a graduation degree in any stream is required.

3. Final year candidates of graduation course may also apply.

4. The age limit is 18 to 27 years as per July 1 of the examination year.

5. The age limit is relaxed by 3 years for OBC.

6. SC/ST candidates are eligible for 5 years relaxation.
