The minimum acceptable height for joining the Indian Army is 157.5 cms, for Indian Air Force the minimum height should be 162.5 cms and for the Indian Navy the height should be more than 152 cm

Eligibility Criteria :-

1) You should be a 12th pass-out (with PCM as your subjects for Air Force or Navy)

2) You should be in the age limit of 16.5 - 19 years

Apart from this you should have a perfect eyesight and good physical health..

The required height is 152 cm to 183 cm .
Other eligibility criteria are as follows :

• Age- 16.5 to 19 years
• Educational Qualification- Atleast 12th or equivalent with atleast phsyics,chemistry and maths .

The height generally varies between 152 cm to 183 cm.

The weight depends upon two factors :

• Height
• AGE

National Defense Academy (NDA) exam is conducted by upsc twice in a year to intake qualified Candidate for different department in Defense service like Indian Airforce, Indian Navy,Indian Army etc.

Eligibility criteria for NDA-I/NDA-II exam:
Education qualification: Minimum candidate should complete 12th class with PCM stream.
Age Limit: Age should be between 16 1/2 to 19 years.
Citizenship: Indian
Height: Minimum 157cm

NDA-I exam notification for this year:
Issue of application form from 31st Dec 2011 to 30th Jan 2012.
Exam will held on 15th April 2012.

NDA-II exam notification for this year:
Issue of application form from 5th May 2012 to 4th June 2012.
Exam will held on 19th Aug 2012.

But there is no relaxation for reserved category candidates.
In NDA exam two papers are available paper 1 and paper 2.

Basic eligibility required for NDA are:

- You are eligible for NDA after 10+2 exam.
-only unmarried male candidates are eligible.
-candidates appearing in 12th class can also apply.
- Age : From 19 Years to 24 years. Engineer graduates 20 to 27 years
- Degree. BA, B.Sc or B.Tech/BE
- No. of attempts is less than or equal to 4.

Physical standard required are:
1. The candidate must be in good physical and mental health and free from any disease
2. The minimum acceptable height for male candidates is 157.5 cms. For Women candidates minimum acceptable height is 152 cms.
3. There should be no disease of bones and joints of the body.
4. The hearing should be normal
5. A male candidate should be able to read 6/6 in a distant vision chart with each eye with or without glasses. For women candidates the minimum acceptable visual acuity are Distant Vision (corrected) better eye 6/6, worse 6/18.
6. A candidate should be able to recognize red and green colors

10% (A ± 6 Kg for Navy) departure from the average weight given in the table 1 above is to be considered within normal limit. However, in individuals with heavy bones and broad build as well as individuals with thin but otherwise healthy this may be relaxed to some extent on merit.

OTHER ELIGIBILITIES FOR NDA EXAM:-

NDA (National Defense Academy):- The NDA exam is carried out by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) twice a year namely NDA I and NDA II. If you have done 12th then you can apply for NDA exam which is carried out by UPSC twice a year for NDA exam your age should be in between 16.5 to 19 years. for applying to navy you have to study the PCM subjects in your 12th. candidate should be unmarried. Candidate should be physically and mentally strong.

Candidates must be physically fit according to physical standards for admission to National Defence Academy and Naval Academy .
for army and navy:-

The minimum acceptable height is 153cms. (162.5 cms for Air Force) .

The maximum acceptable height is 183cm.
this height may vary region by region, such as for andman nicobar it yary less to 5 years.
