The selection is done through a exam conducted by Government of India..

The eligibility Criteria is :

Educational Qualification:Graduation from recognized university.

Age limit :21-30 years.

The selection procedure consists of a written test and a interview..

The CBI is controlled by the Ministry of Personnel headed by the Union Minister who reports directly to the Prime Minister of India.

Qualifying Exam
Candidates who wish to join the CBI must write the SSC combined graduate level exam conducted by Union Public Service Commission Examination.

Eligibility:
1. Graduation with a minimum of 55% marks are eligible to appear for this exam.
2. They must be at least 20 years at the time of applying. SC/ST/OBC candidates must be at least 30 years when they apply.
3. The candidates who qualify in the written test will be later called for a Physical Test and Interview.

Examination Pattern : -

a. Part I - Written Examination carrying: 400 marks

i. General Test

ii. General Intelligence and Reasoning

iii. General Awareness

iv. Numerical Ability

b. Part II - Personality Test (Interview): 100 marks.

i. English Language

A candidate can apply for the CBI or CID through combined graduate level examination. This exam is conducted by the staff selection commission every year. This exam is conducted for the various govt. departments like Intelligence Bureau, CBI, Income tax department and so on. This exam is conducted every year around the month of august. T o be eligible for this exam you need the eligibility given below:

To join CBI you need to appear for CGPE exam i.e. Combined Graduate preliminary Exam which is conducted by SSC board every year.


Also you have citizenship of India.

Those candidate are graduate from any recognized university with any discipline are eligible for CBI exam.(Criminology)

These are conducted by UPSC in the every year. These are come under IB(Intelligence Bureau).Not only CBI and CID but also RAW(Research and Analysis Wing) are come under IB.

Age Limit should Not exist 25 years for General Category. there is a relaxation is available for SC/ST category up to upper Age + 5 years...........

In the Preliminary Examination,there are two papers.Paper 1 consists of General Awareness and General Intelligence.It consists of 100 questions and for 100 marks.The duration of the exam is 2 hours.In the Paper 2 there are 100 questions for 100 marks and all the questions are on Arithmetic only.Even the duration of this paper is 2 hours.Keep in mind that qualifying in the preliminary examination will not offer you a job,this will make you eligible for the Main examination.Coming to the final examination,the candidates who have passed in the preliminary examination are only allowed for the Main examination.


In the Main Examination there are two stages.They are written examination and personality test.The syllabus for the written examination is:

LANGUAGE-100M
ARITHMETIC-200M
COMMUNICATION SKILLS AND WRITING-100M
