Water transport has been playing an important role in Indian economy since long time because this is one most suitable way to export and import any kind of material from one country to another country. In short you can say that Port is the nothing but an entrance gate through which you can enter into sea and hence you can do business of export and Import. Ports are also important for the support of economic activities as it is the only one medium to create a crucial connection between sea and land transport. A large of people are working for the maintenance of Port related activities and it goes without saying that Ports are helping people globally. The average ship-borne traffic in India is 35 million tonnes per anum, So we can say that it is helping not only country not only in one field but in many more areas.
