It is a good decision to do postgraduation after BCA. If you are looking for jobs in computer programming and development you should look out for MCA. This will give you better exposure in this field. If you want to look for marketing and managerial jobs in IT field MBA in IT will be good option. If you are looking for jobs in management and administration MBA will be a good option. You should choose a course according to your area of interest. But with BCA background it will be good to do either MCA or MBA in IT.

Hi,
MBA- Master's of Business Administration. MCA - Master's of Computer Application. Since, you have done BCA, both MCA and MBA (IT) are good for you. MCA will give you an edge in computer skills, while MBA (IT) will give you management skills in Information technology. If you go for MCA, you will get job in core software area, while with MBA in IT, you can also apply for management jobs involving IT skills. So, choose according to your interest. |

Your question itself has the answer. Since you say that you are not good in programming, MCA will definitely not be the right choice for you. So MBA is better choice. Now among the different streams of MBA, you can definitely go for MBA in IT. Also MBA in marketing and MBA in Finance and MBA in biotechnology and MBA in Media and MBA in Education are a good choice. So you can think of any stream from these also. You just make sure to clear the BCA with more than 50%. But if you belong to the reserved category then 45% or more will be just enough for you. Then you sit for any of the available MBA common entrance tests like CAT or MAT or GMAT or CMAT or JMET. If you clear any such commonly available tests then you will be able to enter the MBA program. All the best. |

Dear..
As you said that your programming skills is not good then i musty say that your MBA IT will not help you much. According to me you should skip the plan of doing MBA it and go for some other specialization of MBA such as Marketing, Export Import or Finance. The reason why you should MBA over MBA IT are :- 1. You are not good at programming 2. MBA IT has little scope then other specialization 3. You will a job much faster if you go for MBA 4. Starting salary would be good 5. MBA finance and Marketing people are always in Demand Hope it will help Cheers...!!! |

Soon after completion of BCA course, you are eligible to join both the courses like
-MBA -MBA in IT It is not that one specialization is a good choice and other are not in MBA course. Each and every course is having its own career scope and job opportunities for the candidates. Only thing is that you need to make most out of the course by gaining good subject knowledge and enhancing communication skills to grab these excellent job opportunities. As per your profile, If you do not have enough programming knowledge and not interested to continue in the IT field, then you can opt for MBA course in any of the following specializations. MBA in Finance MBA in Marketing Management MBA in Human Resource Management MBA in Operations Management MBA in Logistics Management MBA in Retail Management MBA in International Business etc. But if you are eager to learn programming knowledge and able to put your best efforts for the successful completion of MBA IT, then you can opt for this. One thing I want to suggest you is that, don't opt for any stream without having interest. If you don't have interest, obviously you can not concentrate on studies which will further affect your career. Wish you all the best. |
