SP(Superintendent of Police ) and SI ( Sub-Inspector ) both of them are two different post in police.

To become SP you have to appear and qualify for Civil Service examination which is conducted by UPSC.

For recruitment as an SI, candidates have to qualify for SSC entrance examination.

The required qualification for both the recruitment is that candidate must have passed bachelor degree in any discipline.

SI means Sub Inspector. Superintendent of Police is and Indian Police Services examination. Sub Inspector is at lower rank of Indian Police System. State government conduct entrance exam for Sub Inspector posts.

For Indian Police Services, Civil Services examination is conducted by UPSC.

The academic qualification for both exams is same that is bachelor's degree from a recognized university. The age criteria for SI differs from state to state.

You can apply for Civil Services examination and clear its all stages like Preliminary, mains and interview to become IPS officer. The age limit is 21-32 years.
