You have to take science stream inorder to get into the field of astronomy.Although there is no entrance test now,you can give National Astronomy Olympiad. However there is entrance test after 12th conducted by IIST.You can also get into Punjab Technical University to get into this sector.
All the best.

> GCSE Courses :~
<*>. Do well in as many GCSE subjects as possible.
<*>. But the most important are Mathematics, Physics and any other Science.
<*>. Subjects like Modern Languages, Computer Sciences and Geography can be useful.
<*>. Get good grades in English to be able to write well.
.
> A-Level subjects :~
<*>. Get the best grades possible in three A-Level subjects so that you can get into a good university.
<*>. The most important subjects are Mathematics and Physics. You should pursue one another subject in Science.
.
> University Courses :~
<*>. In order to get details about which university offer what type of courses, visit this website http://www.ucas.ac.uk/
<*>. The best degree subjects will be either Mathematics or Physics or a combination of these with Astronomy or Astrophysics.
<*>. To get a good basic education in Mathematics or Physics is most important.
<*>. If you want to go on to do research you will need to study for a doctorate. After that you should aim at a first-class degree, or at least an upper second.
.
> Computing :~
<*>. The ability to type fairly fast is very useful.
