I want to become a Lawyer or a CA. I have given my 10th Board exam and I will take Commerce in my 11th standard. So, please tell me about the subjects to take in Commerce so that I can achieve my aim?

You are eligible to pursue stream of your choice if you want to pursue either Law or CA ( Chartered Accountant ) course.

The required eligibility to get admission in the course is that candidate must have passed 12th in any stream from a recognised board.

But you have to qualify in entrance examination conducted to get admission in prestigious institutes.

Yes, candidates passed 12th in commerce stream are eligible to appear for entrance examination to get admission in Law or CA course.

There is no limitation on stream. Candidates passed 12th in any stream are eligible to appear for examination to get admission in the course.

So, you can do preparation for entrance examination to get admission in the specific course.

CLAT examination is conducted for admission in Law courses while ICAI conducts entrance examination for admission in CA course.

CA refers to Chartered Accountancy and same is professional degree course after completing which one becomes a chartered accountant. The whole CA course is divided into three stages which includes foundation course in CA, IPCC ( Integrated Professional Competence Course ) and the final stage course.

Also, to become a lawyer you need to pursue LLB ( Bachelor of legislative law ).

As far as you are concerned about the selection of stream for pursuing Class 11th to become a lawyer or a CA then for your information I would like to let you know that you can opt for any subject of your choice as for both the course the minimu education required is a class 12th from a recognized board of education.

Also for pursuing LLB degree course from top law colleges you need to qualify entrance examinations like CLAT, BHU UET, DU LLB entrance examination, etc. where as for pursuing CA course you will have to qualify CPT ( Common Proficiency Test ) to join its foundation course.

Candidates passed 12th in any stream are eligible to appear for entrance examination conducted by ICAI to get admission in CA course as well as for CLAT examination which is conducted to get admission in law course.

So, you can take commerce stream in 11th std and also do better preparation for entrance examination according to course in which you want to get admission.

You are eligible to take commerce stream in 12th std if you want to purse CA or LLB course.

If you want to pursue commerce in 12th. The other subjects are : Mathematics, Business Studies, Accountancy, English, Physical Education, and Commerce.

Other than this you can also take Computer science instead of other paper.

If you want to become either Chartered Accountant or Lawyer then you must select following subjects in senior secondary board examination:

Accountancy.

Economics.

Mercantile law/Computer science.

Mathematics.

English.

You can apply for Common Law Admission Test for admission in BA LLB and CPT for getting into CA course.

Common Law Admission test is entrance exam for admission in BA LLB course. CLAT is an examination by National Law University. All stream candidates are eligible for examination.You should have minimum of 45% marks in 12th.

Commerce stream is the best stream for Chartered Accountancy course. You can apply for Common Proficiency test conducted by ICAI twice every year for getting admission in CA course.

You can select Accountancy, Economics, English, Computer science and last subject of your own choice.

Since, you are worried about the selection of stream for pursuing your higher secondary school degree to become a lawyer or a CA ( Chartered Accountant ) later then you should not be worried about the same as both of these career options give you liberty to opt for the stream as per your strength.

For becoming a lawyer, you need to hold Bachelor of Legislative Law (LLB) degree course and for pursuing the same degree course the minimum education qualification required is a higher secondary school degree in any discipline with at least 45% marks ( or 50% in case of few law university ) from a recognized board.

Also for becoming a CA, you need complete CA course which is divided into three stages which are CPT, IPCC and the final stage course. Further, the minimum education required for CPT and thus for CA is a higher secondary school degree in any discipline from a recognized board.

As far as you concerned about the combination of subjects to be opted for Class 11th in Commerce then you can go for Economics, Business Studies, Accountancy, English, Physical Education. You can opt for Mathematics or Computer Science as optional papers if you have interest in these subjects.

To become a CA or Lawyer, following combination you can choose in 11th standard in commerce stream:-

Compulsory subjects are:-
Accountancy
Business Administration
Economics

Optional Subjects are:-
Mathematics
IP
Entrepreneurship

Chartered Accountancy is a professional course opted by most of commerce stream candidates. The first stage of Chartered Accountancy is Common Proficiency Test. CPT is conducted twice every year by ICAI. Questions are asked from subjects like Accountancy, Economic, mercantile law etc.

So, you must select these subjects in 12th board exams. In case of Bachelor's degree in law, the candidate from any stream can apply for Common Law Admission Test. The only requirement is that candidate should have studied English in 12th and secured 45% marks in 12th.

I would like to make you clear that there is no compulsion of any subject in the academics to be a Lawyer or a CA.

After completion of your 12th, you have to apply for CLAT ''Common Law Admission Test''. CLAT is conducted for admission in good college to pursue LLB course.

When you become a CA, after completion your 12th you have to apply for CPT ''Common Proficiency Test''. CPT examination is mandatory to join CA course.

To become Lawyer or CA, you need to study Commerce related subject in 12th class and go for higher education.

In 11th class there will be 3 streams like science, arts and commerce. The subjects are standard in the stream like you cannot change or choose the subjects in the 11th class.

You need to choose commerce stream and score good marks in 11th & 12th class.

After completing 12th class, if you want to become a Lawyer then go for LLB course or if you want to become a CA then apply for CPT exam and clear it and join the IPCC course.

You can select Accountancy, Economics, English and Mathematics in 11th standard to become eligible for Chartered Accountancy as well as Bachelor of Law Course. The eligibility for BA LLB course is 12th with any stream with 45% marks.

The competitive entrance exam is CA CPT and CLAT for LLB course.
