IPS.
2. I want to know about the syllabus for an IPS exam.

For being an IPS Officer you need to go through the CSAT Examination conducted by the UPSC Board.The applications will be available in the head/central post office of your city.For applying online you can go through the following link

The notifications will be released once in an year in the weekly journal journal "Employment news" or else in daily newspapers like "The Hindu".You can even refer the website of UPSC for more details regarding the examination

The syllabus regarding the examinations are mentioned in the notification which is attached below.

The examination is mainly held in three stages namely preliminary,mains and interview.You need to pass all three stages to see yourself as an Officer.Based on your performance and marks you will given specified trades to select for.Am sure that you will find all the details in the notification attached below.

Preliminary Examination Pattern :-



Main Examination Pattern :-

(Paper-1) One of the Indian languages.
(Paper-2) English
(Paper-3) Essay
(Paper-4 &5 ) General Studies
Paper-6,7,8,9) Any two subjects to be selected from the prescribed optional subjects.

Where is the application form issued?

The candidates can apply for this examination in two ways : 1)Online 2)Offline

Candidates may apply online using the website : www.upsconline.nic.in

Application forms are available in various designated head post offices/sub post offices throughout the country.

Information about this exam?

The examination consist of Preliminary,Main and Interview.

You must have a graduate degree from a recognized university or equivalent qualification.

Your age should be between 21 years and 30 years as on august 1st of the year of examination.

If you want to become an IPS officer then you have to appear for the CIVIL SERVICE exam.The exam is conducted once a by the UPSC.

The examination is done in two phases ::
Preliminary exam which is of maximum 400 marks consisting of 2 papers and common for all students .The question asked are related to ::

General studies
General aptitude

Both papers are of 200 marks each .

Main exam:: It consists of written exam and the interview .Written exam consist of the total 9 papers and students have to decide two optional subjects .Its of 2000 marks total.There will be 2 papers on the each optional subjects .

After clearing the written exam you will be called for the interview .

Eligibility ::

The interested candidates should have completed their graduation in any streams .
The age limit for the examination is ::
21 to 30 for general students
21 to 33 years for the OBC
21 to 35 for the SC/ST students .

The number of times you can appear for the exams are ::

4 for the general category students
7 for the OBC students
and SC/ST can take unlimited times .
