Is there a future for psychology in our India? Why or why not? which are the colleges within India best suited for pursuing psychology? What are the possible careers after a Ph.D in the subject? Is it possible to pursue psychology in UG level if you don't have the subject in class 11 and 12?

You can definitely go on to become a PSYCHOLOGIST, if you pursue further studies in psychology, such as BA (Hons) Psychology, MA (Psy) and later M Phil and Doctorate. To become a psychiatrist, you need to do MBBS, MD (Psychiatry). A Psychiatrist is a doctor trained to treat mental illnesses with medicines, however, a Psychologist can not prescribe medicines.

yes , its important to do mbbs to become a psychiatrist, since u can only take up the course called psychiatry after you are a qualified doctor!
