NET EXAM STANDS FOR NATIONAL ELIGIBILITY TEST WHICH IS CONDUCTED BY UGC IN JUNE AS WELL AS DECEMBER. ELIGIBILITY FOR UGC NET EXAM IS ; Candidates must secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s Degree OR equivalent examination Candidates are advised to appear in the subject of their Post Graduation only For Junior Research Fellowship age limit is 28 years above age limit will be relaxed in specific cases FOR Lectureship There is no upper age limit for applying for lectureship eligibility. Pattern of the examination : There will be written test consisting of 3 papers Paper-I : It consist of 50 objective type questions of general nature to test reasoning ability, comprehension and divergent thinking of the candidate and of marks 100. Paper-II : It consist of 50 objective type questions on the subject chosen by the candidate and of marks 100. Paper-III : It consist of 4 section : Write a critique of a given passage. Fifteen questions will be asked on the syllabus of Paper-III(A). Questions will be asked on all major specializations / electives and the candidates will be asked to choose one specialization / elective and answer the five questions from it. National Eligibility Test is central level exam while State Eligibility Test is state level exam. University Grants Commission conducts NET entrance exam while Education Board of each state conducts SET entrance exam.
Both exams are conducted for lectureship and PhD. While NET exam is conducted once a year, SET depends from state to state. Some states like to conduct the exam twice a year while others conducts this exam once a year. Eligibility 1. You should be Indian national. Age Limit 1. The Age limit for JRF is 28 years. 2. There is 3 years relaxation for OBC. 3. There is 5 years relaxation for SC/ST. 4. There is no upper age limit for College Lectureship. Education 1. A post graduation degree from a UGC recognized university. 2. Minimum of 55 percent marks. 3. SC/ST must secure 50 percent marks. 4. Final year post graduation students can also apply. 5. Your NET subject should be relevant to your degree. Exam Pattern There are total of 3 papers in the National Eligibility Test and State Eligibility Test. Dates The dates of SET exam varies from state to state. You should have mentioned a particular state for relevant answer. As far as NET exam is concerned, it will take place of December 30, 2012. However registration period to appear for this exam has ended. You can now appear for the exam that will take place in June 2013. |

The NET Examination is conducted every year in the months of June and December every year by the University Grants Commission (UGC) for : a) Junior Research Fellowship b) Lecturer-ship The Qualifications Required to appear in NET Exam are : * You must have completed your post graduation with a minimum of 55% marks if you belong to General Category. * There is a relaxation of 5% marks for candidates belonging to SC/ST Categories. * The Age Limit for JRF is 21-28 years while there is no age limit for the post of Lecturer. The Pattern Of The Examination is : The Important Dates Regarding NET 2012 are : * Last Date for form filling : 16/11/2012 * Date Of Examination : 30/12/2012 This is the information i have to the best of my knowledge regarding your query. The Acronym "NET" stands for National Eligibility Test. The Union Public Service Commission Conducts the NET Exam every year in the months of June and December. The Eligibility Criteria For NET Exam are : * You must have a Masters Degree in any discipline from any recognized university. * You must have a minimum of 55% marks in Post Graduation. * Age Limit : 21-28 Years [For JRF] . * There is no age limit for the post of lecturer ship.
